More about Ten Hill Place Hotel Edinburgh

Great Stay at Ten Hill Place

by TripAdvisor Member DianaCO

Stayed at Ten Hill Place on 22 and 23 March. It is situated in a quiet square, part of the Royal College of Surgeons, the museum of which is definitely worth a visit, although beware if you are a bit squemish! In the University district of the city. Our room was lovely,
beautifully presented and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay including a full-size flat screen TV. The bathroom was white with chrome fittings, very stylish and the shower was great.

We ate at Buffalo the first night, it is unlicenced but you can take your own bottle. We had a lovely meal the second night at Maison Bleu
on Grassmarket, delicious food in a romantic candlelit setting. Fab coffee and cake at the Nationoal Portrait Gallery - pictures not bad either!

Only a 10 minute walk from Princess Street, and not too far from the Monument, the National Museum is just around the corner.

All in all, a lovely break - definitely recommended.

Excellent Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Hazy-Sunshine

Stayed at Ten Hill Place for 2 nights 22-24th March. We booked a skyline room (502) and got the one that is featured in their brochure. The room was very spacious and so was the bathroom, the view was nice too. It is also in a quiet area . As this is a new hotel it is in excellent condition throughout. Staff and food were good. Only drawback was the lack of a fridge in what was their most expensive room, when the brochure states that some of the rooms have fridges. Overall a very pleasant experience and very well worth the 3 stars it gets.

very stylish

We stayed for 2 nights having got a great deal on the internet .We had a standard room which was compact but really stylishly and tastefully decorated . The shower room was very modern and absolutely spotlessly clean . We had read reviews that said breakfast was chaos so we had continental breakfast delivered to room instead .The hotel is in a fairly quiet street but within walking distance of plenty bars ,restaurants and attractions. We visited the Royal Yacht which was very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend Edinburgh and Ten HILL place for a short break .

Excellent value

by TripAdvisor Member GerbilOReilly

I was looking for a hotel in Edinburgh for one night as I was visiting my sister who lives in Leith. I booked 10 Hill Place on the basis of other TripAdvisor reviews and I wasn't disappointed.

First impressions were that it was down a nice quiet side street. Got to the room and was astounded at how big it was with a large bathroom to match. Room was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. Our room was at the rear of the hotel so no view, but no noise either.

The staff were very friendly, breakfast was fine. My only minor niggle was that as a tea addict, providing only two tea bags in the room seemed a bit stingy.

Would definitely stay again

Can't fault it

by TripAdvisor Member LynSept05

I booked this hotel after reading some good reviews on Trip Advisor. I wholeheartedly agree with the positive reviews.

The hotel is in a good location, about 7 minutes walk from the Royal Mile and less than 15 minutes walk from Prince's St. Because it's a few mins from the action the hotel is noise free at night.

The rates are very reasonable and the rooms are quite spacious for the price you're paying.

As mentioned in earlier reviews the breakfast room is quite small but we had no problems and we were there of a rugby weekend which meant the hotel was chocka.

The reception is small and you wouldn't want to be in a hurry to check in or out. That's my only quibble but since I wasn't in a hurry I shouldn't even have mentioned it!

I'd definitely go back.

fantastic hotel

by TripAdvisor Member chrisrachel2

a great place to stay , the hotel is comfortable , excellent staff, great rooms and very quiet while you sleep ! the hotel breakfast was excellent as well. the only fault with the bar area was that there were no draught lagers or beers , hence had to buy bottles which were costly . But other than that this is the best hotel weve had stayed in for a long while . this will come highly recommended and is near to all attractions and train station .

Great modern hotel...

by TripAdvisor Member JC_Traveller

What a GREAT hotel. A total bargain.

We stayed here for one (Friday) night in a 'superior exec' room - and didn't want to leave! The room and the rest of the hotel was spotless, modern and comfortable. Our room was on the second floor at the front of the hotel and was pretty quiet. There was also a view over the houses opposite to Salisbury crags & Arthur's seat which was a nice bonus.

The toiletries in the bathroom were good quality & you get big fluffy white towels & plenty of hot water. The tea tray was well stocked with tea/coffee/decaf/herbal & fruit teas/hot choc (maybe they read the previous review about them being stingy!) and there was a room service menu for sandwiches & other light food. Breakfast was great. There's a buffet with lots of choice including porridge and haggis plus plenty of healthy & veggie options (fruit salads, muesli/cereal, yougurt, veggie sausages) along with the traditional fry-up. You can also have a continental breakfast brought up to your room for free if you prefer a lie in!

The hotel web site says that their car parking is 'limited' and they aint kidding. There are only a handful of tight parking spaces underneath the hotel, all of which were taken when we checked in at 2.30pm. Best bet if you're driving there is to drop off your bags at the hotel and then go to the nearby NCP car park around 500m down the hill from the hotel. It's approx £7 for 24hrs with the hotel's discount.

There's a handy cashpoint near the end of hill place and you're spoilt for choice of restaurants & bars nearby in the old town area.

I'm trying to think of another excuse to stay over in Edinburgh so we can come back here...

Perfect Hotel and Great Value for Money

by TripAdvisor Member princess-autumn

Booked this hotel for a 1 night stay and wished had been there longer. Friendly helpful staff, lovely bar, great clean rooms and a breakfast to die for (but couldn't face the haggis - sorry guys). Was walking distance to all the attractions and Waverley Station. A real bargain for the price we paid. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful Hotel Friendly Staff

by TripAdvisor Member franlarne

We recently spent a extended week-end( Thursday -Sunday) in this beatuful hotel. The room we stayed in (No:109) was immaculate, spacious, clean and fresh with many amenities. The staff were extremely friendly and professional and we were able to check-in immediately although we arrived at 9.30am.

The breakfast was substanial and varied although we had to wait 30 mins on sunday morning as it was extremely busy. Though this was no great hardship on a lazy Sunday morning and we were given complimentary coffee and Sunday newspapers.

The hotel is well placed for all the attractions in Edinburgh being just a short walk to the Royal Mile and onwards to Princes street and the new Town although this being Edinburgh there were a number of hills to climb.
We have stayed in many hotels in Edinburgh and would say that this ranks at the top or very near the top in style, service and location.
We will certainly be returning.
