Welcoming hotel
It was by chance that I found this hotel on my first visit to Edinburgh in 1993, and I liked it so much that I stayed there on all my subsequent trips, except one.
Situated on a side of the Calton Hill, this family-run hotel has a park at its back and another in front, across the street.
The building once was the home of some rich family, so the rooms are spacious, even if the size was reduced a bit by the addition of bathrooms, the ceilings are high and the windows are big.
It is very clean and the owners are very kind. The lack of an elevator is the only flaw.
Unique Quality: It is very central and yet very quiet. In addition to that, the feeling of being transported back in time.
