I can't speak to the references you mention, however, I just made accomodations for an Edinburgh B&B through www.scottishaccomodationindex.com, which also has self serve apartements. It was quick, easy and provided a wide range of properties for consideration.

I don't know of the agencies really, but can tell you that all the addresses you mention are near the city centre,. Cumberland Street is a good area, walking distance to the City and a fairly quiet resedential area, not sure if this helps!

Travel Tips for Edinburgh

Free films displayed while having a drink

by tzuki

The Brass Monkey is a particular place in Edinburgh.

One of my Scottish friend took me to this particular pub/cafe where you can enjoy free films display while having some drinks with your friends in a very 'cosy' atmosphere.

The film display are running all day on. However, there is a list of the films which are displaying per day and a timetable.
I found this as a pretty nice idea :-)

Address: 14 Drummond Street
Tel: 0131 556 1961
Opening hours: from 11 to 6pm

Free films every day
Free beer ordering one.

BTW, if you wanna know more about the Brass Monkey, my VT friend Easyoar told me once this nice story about it......I have never been there. I just wondered if you knew the English Expression
"It's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey". You can talk about
"Brass Monkey weather" meaning it is very cold indeed!. Apparently it comes from
the time when they used cannons during wars. The cannon balls were kept on
something that was called a Brass Monkey. When it got very cold, the cannon
balls shrunk more than the brass monkey and the cannon balls fell off, hence the

:-) nice, isn´t it?? No places in London similar as The Brass Monkey in Edinburgh :-(

Edinburgh Tip

There are so many pubs in Edinburgh that there would be no excuse not to find a good place to hang out and have a few pints. While in the city, I met a couple travellers, Greg (NZ) and Joe (U.S.) and we went to a few pubs on a couple of occasions.

A stopover at the famous...

by Sharrie

A stopover at the famous CAITHNESS GLASS FACTORY at PERTH proved to be very fruitful for me. I managed to buy a very special piece (engraved & personalised) for my cousin, Irene's wedding.

The Caithness Glass Story:
* Opened its first factory in Wick in 1961.
* Regarded as one of the foremost makers of handmade glass & introduced engraved glassware in 1968.
* First paperweights produced in 1969. Developed innovative techniques for abstract designs using traditional methods of millefiori & lampwork in the same year.
* Caithness Glass Paperweight Collectors Society - founded in 1976 by Colin Terris, the genius behind Caithness paperweights. For more information, please write to: Caithness Glass Ltd, Inveralmond Perth, Scotland PH1 3TZ or 141 Lanza Avenue, Building 12, Garfield, NJ07026 in the U.S.A.

Bird's eye view of Edinburgh

by danielcv

I don't think many people go up to Arthur's Seat. This is where the Edinburgh observatory sits and where you can get a beautiful top view of the city.

I recomment to go there especially during the sunset. It rewards visitors witha panoramic and uniquely red coloured view of the city.

You can get there either by walking or by car.

Prince street mall

by Kodi01

Right by the information booth for the city is the mall, it has many stores you can find anything you want there.

There is also a food court to eat at with local food and of course McDonalds is everywhere.
