    Functional but not exciting

    by

For those of you that may not know, the Travelodge chain provide fairly basic but functional hotels / motels (I'm not quite sure which), and opinion seems divided about them. I've used them often before, and if you just want somewhere to get a night's sleep they are as good as any.

This particular place is actually situated in a services area just off the Edinburgh sity bypass, and as such suffers a bit from traffic noise.

There is no restaurant as such and the food options are limited to the fast food outlets adjacent.

The service I have to say was a bit so-so. when we told the receptioist that the TV remote wasn't working, she told us to change the channels manually - no offer of a replacement. the rooms, however, were clean and comfortable, and I suppose that's all we needed really.

If you don't have your own transport it's a bit of a walk along the side of a busy road with no footpath to get onto the main road into town. the train station is about 15 minutes walk.

Directions: Located just off the roundabout of the A1/A720 city bypass.
