Fair Isle Bird Observatory: Few choices makes it easy
Basic accommodations - some private rooms and some 4-bed bunk rooms. Three meals served from fixed menu and vegetarians are catered to. Considering the isolation, they do a pretty good job here.
Good abundant food; you get to eat and mingle with the staff and visitors from around the world. It is the ONLY pub on the island and is just a short walk up the hill from North Haven where the ferry and a few private sail boats dock. Every night at 9:30 the Warden does a roll call of all the birds that were seen that day. It is a family affair since the Warden (Deryk) his wife (Holly) and their 4 children live at FIBO.

Fair Isle Lodge
We did not stay at the Fair Isle Lodge, but we passed by it and saw people going in and out.
The Lodge is part of the new Bird's Observatory, and the Chief Bird Observer's wife runs the lodge. So this is the ideal place for people wanting to do birdwatching on Fair Isle.

The Puffin: The Puffin
The Puffin is a converted fish store, used to house the volunteer parties who come to work on Fair Isle in summer, in the framework of National Trust for Scotland Thistle Camps.
It offers two dormitories with a communal kitchen and a cozy living room with a warm stove.
