Ulster Golfer

I have stayed here twice and find it very convenient to golf courses and lots of entertainment in local bars and clubs which are a short walk away. Rooms are ok. Food excellent. most of the staff are very pleasant and helpful, however don't return after midnight without a key, you will be locked out and ringing the bell or knocking the door won't help because the lady in charge lurks inside avoiding you, maybe because you might ask for a nightcap from behind the bar, NO CHANCE.
The owners are lovely people and mix with the guests but one of their staff has been there too long.

Hi again,

I guess you're still looking for accommodation for your honeymoon!

I don't know anything about The Dunn Thing B&B, except to say that it's in a nice part of town, within easy walking to the beach, shops, bus and train stations. You will also find some nice restaurants nearby.

I'll be happy to help if you've got any more questions on this area.

Yes, we are stil looking...

We are planning on getting married at the town hall in Maybole..then staying in Ayr for two nights.Ayr seems like a nice little seaside town. After Ayr it is off to Amsterdam for a week and a two day finish in Belgium.
Then Back to Texas......

Anyway thank you for the response..We will probably stay at the Dunn Thing.

I take it you've seen this:

I might have said this before, but Park Circus is a really nice street and it's close to the town centre, close to the beach and generally a nice place.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. After all, it's just a place to lay your head down...

Enjoy,

S

Travel Tips for Ayr

DICK INSTITUTE

This is the main library in the town of Kilmarnock but is also home to a free art gallery and small museum which was pretty interesting. The most famous thing there is Brian, a stuffed lion and "Brians other half"

Location Kilmarnock, just off London Road

Burns Monument Gardens

by MartinSelway

Not a great deal to see here to be honest. We set off from the Tam O' Shanter experience for the Big O Doon and found ourselves at the gate. Your supposed to pay to get in and there is a key pad, but the gate was open so we had a look in. I'm glad we never paid to enter!

Basically just a small garden, with the only item of interest as a tower built in the middle as a monument to Burns.

You can walk up the tower which does give a reasonable view from the top towards the Big O Doom, which is only a stones throw away.

MACLAURIN ART GALLERY

They have various temporary exhibitions - last time I was there it was a photography exhibit and also some lovely paintings by the local art club. No Monets or Picassos but nice just the same! I've also been to see a Peter Howson exhibit there and they have their own collection and show pieces from that at various times.
