Initial Impression
A reasonable 3* hotel, but spoiled by receptionist, who did not smile
or give any information regarding meal times etc. Some training on customer care is obviously required. Initial impressions are important

overall quite good, apart from when we run out of toilet paper and was told by chambermaid there was none, I suspect she couldnt be bothered, and when we left room for the day, on return there was no teabags even though there was about five left that morning, the most pleasant member of staff was the cleaner,I think she should take staff training and teach other members of staff about customer care.
I stayed for 4 nights, it was awful. Decor in the Hotel reminded me of the film 'The Shining'. It had the oldest lift in the world which wouldn't work if someone left the shutters open. Food was bad. Room wasn't cleaned properly each day. The TV did not work properly. Complained 3 times, eventually they came up,tried to convince me it was ok then said they would bring me a new one.(It never turned up).I gave up in the end. The list goes on.DON'T GO THERE.
We have just had a 2 night stay at the Station Hotel on a bed breakfast and evening meal basis and I am surprised by the negative comments listed on this site.
The staff were all helpful and friendly. The food was 1st class with a good choice to suit most people and was served quickly on nice hot plates. The breakfast was superb and again with a good selection.
The decor to the rooms and bathroooms is a bit dated; but more than adequate for a short stay. You have to take into acount that this is an old building and in some places it is showing its age. Overall the value is excellent, the meal and breakfast would have cost more in other 3 star hotels than we paid for the whole package.
I would have no problem staying again or recommending to a friend
This was our 3rd mini break to the hotel and each time we have found it excellent value for money. We got a brilliant deal for 4 nights. Every time we go we know the room won't be perfect but we only sleep there.
The staff are excellent and can't do enough to help, all other comments should be taken with a pinch of salt we have never had any problems. Staff were all polite and friendly.
The food was excellent, the menus changes every day so you never get bored.
The deco is a bit tired but clean. The only real complaint would be the lift can be a bit frustrating at times.
It is in a central loaction and is within walking distance of everything.
All in all a great hotel with friendly staff. Will be visiting again.
