Walking the streets with a great crowd of backpackers. There's a hop on hop bus around town for the lazy, though its a great walk. I suggest you jump ona train and head up to Sterling (about 40mins) to see the Willy (William) Wallace memorial. Its a big hike up the mountain path to get to it, then 150(approx.) tight circular steps to the top. There is a memorial room with, videos explainng his life for those of us who have never stomached Braveheart. They have his sword there too - which comes up to my neck (it was about 4ft6 and solid steel!). He must have been a strong bugger!! Nice and Sleazy bar. They have 4 litre jugs of beer during happy hour (?I think it was from 6-9pm). Its a small but cosy bar lined with locals and bartenders who adorned more peircings than I thought humanly possible.
I was there with a great bunch of people and no one minded when we ran a muck (hey Sebastian, Elizabeth, Hughe, & Patty!!).

THE FOOTBALL
This should really be in the must see and do activities section but it has to be said that the 'old firm' in Glasgow is a cultural institution in itself. By all means go and watch a Celtic Rangers match - the best one is usually on January 2nd which is a public holiday in Scotland.
The thing to be aware of is the high level of violence assoiciated with these matches - there is the whole Catholic Protestant battles, which I will not go into the politics of but safe to say that feelings run high. For example, when I moved back to Glasgow this time, I was spending a saturday afternoon in the centre of town (George Square) and was unlucky enough to be having my lunch when a full-scale street battle broke out - it only lasted about two minutes as the police were on the scene immediately but considering the taunts were football related, I think it is pathetic - what kind of impression is that going to give to people visiting Glasgow. Please don't be put off, usually the people are very friendly, it is just something to be aware of...
Easy Internet Café
by MrAviator2u
This is the first Easy Internet Café that I stumple upon. It is open 24 hours in downtown Glasgow. It is completely automated. You buy time on coin machine, then seat infront of the computer, enter the code given by the coin machine and type away. You can also speak over the internet.
Aberdour Castle
by margaretvn
This is a fortified residence from the 13th century, which was extended in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries.
It has splendid living areas and a terraced garden with bowling green. There is also a circular dovecot. The garden is really beautiful, and do take time to visit the church which is reached by walking through the garden. There is some lovely stained glass there.
The castle is closed Thursday afternoons and Fridays in winter.

Subculture at the SubClub
by ginger_jesus about Subculture at the SubClub
Glasgow is the third corner of the holy triangle of house music with Chicago and Paris making up the other two. The sound of Glasgow can be summed up with two main record labels: Soma, and Glasgow Underground.
House music here is deep, dirty, funky, everything your mother told you to stay away from, and it's served up aplenty at the Subbie. Dress down, no jacket or any of that nonsense.
