More about Holiday Inn Express Glasgow Airport
A great start and end to our holiday....
by TripAdvisor Member lifesabeachthenudive
After a bad experience at another HIE when the room we'd booked and paid for two months in advance was given to someone else and we were left stranded I swore we would never step foot in a HIE again. However after researching and checking out reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to book hotel rooms and car parking prior to a flight from Glasgow Airport and then again on our return from holiday. I had my reservations after our previous bad experience, however I was proved wrong...
We arrived at 3pm on sunday afternoon to find our room ready, although they'd forgotten to put a cot in the room, this was soon rectified, we also had to ask for extra towels as they had only provided enough for two of us. (better to do this when you arrive rather than early the next morning when you're in a hurry to get away). We had room 112 which had two double and one single bed so ideal for a family with young children. There is a restaurant but the food isn't brilliant and i'd recomend finding somewhere outside of the hotel to eat or grab something before you arrive. The breakfast was more than adequate and included in the price, with a choice of juice, tea, coffees, cereal, toast, fresh fruit, croissants etc. We had a really early flight so we got up checked in our luggauge and then went back for breakfast and freshen up then checked out of the hotel (it certainly beats sitting around in the airport for two hours)! The airport terminal is literally two minutes under a covered walkway from the hotel. There are always plenty of trolleys outside the hotel, so don't worry about lugging cases around. One tip - check which check-in desk you need to check-in at, we went into the main terminal building only to find that our flight was checking in at the building closer to our hotel, if we'd have realised this beforehand it would of saved walking up and down the terminal building with kids and luggague in tow! Our cars were back at the hotel when we returned from holiday and again our rooms were ready. One last thing, booking the hotel via another website is much cheaper, we baid £75 for accomodation and parking for up to 15 days and £49 for room only (including breakfast for a family of 5) Our son booked his room on arrival which was much more expensive.
Only Stay If Desperate

Had to stay here on business as almost all hotels in Glasgow were full due to a Football match.
Requested Non-smoking room at point of booking - this was ignored. The room given was clean and pretty basic, but the stench of smoke was suffocating. I requested a change and this was arranged; still a smoking room as they were almost full, an improvement as I believe they had sprayed air freshener prior to showing me the room. The room was clean but noisy as it is near the M8 and there is next to no sound proofing - slept OK as I was prepared with earplugs! Overall the ambience in the room is very poor; its what I imagine a Young Offenders Institute would be like sans the bars.
Breakfast very poor; fruit juice synthetic tasting, coffee from a vending machine, unhealthy pastries look very unappealing. Some fruit, but not that tempting in appearance. Other guests were also not impressed with the breakfast as I heard them complaining amongst themselves.
To sum up expect the cheapest cost items of the lowest possible quality of neglible nutritional value and you won't go far wrong.
Only good point were the staff who tried to be helpful and polite. Overall this is a poor product - don't buy it.

We were very pleased. The hotel staff were very helpful and it was clean and quiet. Easy-going and informal. There are dark blinds and good soundproofing. Typical chain hotel, but very convenient. Has luggage carts for direct access to the terminal.
best value

We stayed here for a week in late March 2007. It is good value for money. We were amazed at how quiet the hotel is considering it is right beside Glasgow airport! Rooms are a bit on the small side but I guess most people are overnighters for the airport. It was very convenient to be able to walk over to the airport to check in and then come back to the hotel to relax before the flight, no sitting around in airports for hours! You needed a coin to get out of the parking and we thought it would be more convenient if you were able to use your room key, no hanging around in the lobby waiting to be served to get a token if they were busy checking people in, also if you came in late parking was sometimes full. We thought some of the staff could have been a bit more friendly, being in the hospitality industry, our house keeper spoke no english! but overall good value for the money we paid. Would stay there again.
Basic, modest but adequate for it's purpose

We stayed here with our year old daughter on both legs of a stop off to Nova Scotia. We had stayed before and indeed it is basic. We paid 53 pounds for each night and that included breakfast. The room were average if not a little pokey but it was clean. They provided travel cots and plenty of clean linen. My daugter needed her trousers tumbled dried before we checked out to go to Canada and they couldn't have been more facilitative. Additionally on the way back we checked in at about 8 am in the morning when in reality check in is 2 pm. They understood that we had a baby and we needed the room for our onward trip. They also allowed us to have breakfast at check in as well which was welcome. You could also go down to the restaurant and get ice/ hot water etc. They have a little business room as well. All in all fairly basic and modest but clean. Some staff were a little surly but most warmed up with a smile and please/thank you from ourselves. These people work very hard at their jobs. If you want something more plush by all means pay the money but it is a short hop from the hotel to the terminal and this inn has the basics for a nights stay pre or post trip. Book online in advance to get the best deal.
Perfect for airport convenience
by TripAdvisor Member kootenai-girl
Booked this hotel as wanted to be able to walk to airport and it was perfect for this. There is a covered walkway for most of the couple of minute walk (just a few seconds when you are out in open) Newer economy hotel, great shower (no bath). Rooms smaller but ours had a sofa as well as double bed. Free continental breakfast was excellent and very well stocked even later in the am. Easy to get bus into glasgow from the airport.
Convenient and clean

Have used this airport hotel several times when taking an early flight from Glasgow Airport as it is only a short walk to the terminal. Last visit was early June 07.
Have always found the rooms clean and comfortable. The staff are always friendly and helpful and I have always managed to find something at breakfast which satisfied early in the morning.
I agree that the rooms facing the motorway are a bit noisy because the flyover is almost right behind the hotel (some attention should be given to that by the owners), but it is very quiet on the airport side.
All in all, the prices are favourable when compared to other hotels and the location is very convenient for the airport. Obviously, it is not a hotel for a holiday, but a comfortable place to lay one's head when travelling.
I would use this chain of hotels in preference to others in the same category.
The Worst Ever

Made a reservation for a non-smoking room with two beds. Checked in and went to the room to find only one bed and a pull out sofa. Went back down to the front desk and was told there were no other rooms available. I don't know how they can charge 70 pounds to have someone sleep on an uncomfortable sofa. The nerve!
The room was small and the bathroom was a mess. I will never stay at this hotel again and I suggest others to stay away from it.
Try the Holiday Inn that is next door. That one looked new and nice.
Forget The Triple

FORGET THE TRIPLE!
Last May, three of us (including our 25 year-old daughter) stayed at this hotel on our way back to the US. We had reserved a triple, but what we got was a 2-person bed (Queen?) and a rather small sofa which was pulled out (unfolded) to make another bed. The sofa-bed was hard, uneven (2 deep lateral folds creating 3 different angled surfaces), and had a raised area for the upper third. Forget about sleeping on your side or stomach. Our daughter said she had never spent a more miserable night in her life (and she backpacks). Bed linens (for both beds) consisted of a covered blanket and one sheet (not even a pad underneath). The room itself was very small; one could barely walk around the bed or sofa; it was “Spartan,” to say the least.
Other shortcomings include the following:
No alarm clock or wake-up call. You have to set the TV (no instructions) and then you get disco music.
Towels only provided for two people.
Hot water in sink shuts off by itself as temperature rises.
Bath fan does not work
Steam from shower drips on to the toilet.
No power outlet near bed (husband uses a CPAP machine at night).
The advertised “covered walk to the terminal” does not start at the hotel lobby. Rather, one has to walk outside around the hotel and then across a 3-lane street to get to the covered walk. There is another break once you get to the terminal and we believe there is a third break somewhere between the two buildings. Bring an umbrella (al-ways a good idea in Scotland) as if it is raining, you and your luggage will still get wet (although the walkway helps some and it could be much worse).
The dinner was overpriced (one entree included only 6 1-inch cubes of chicken in a sauce).
Breakfast was decent, but the piped in music consisted of disco and Michael Jackson (in his youth). At 4AM there are better choices.
Other than the location (admittedly great, especially if you have a morning flight), the only other positives were the relative quiet (we were on the other side of the hotel and could not hear the planes landing or taking off) and the adequacy of the breakfast (included in the price of the room).
If there are an odd number of travelers, get the extra room or somebody will suffer.
