the cemetaries in scotland are always worth a visit. not that i make it a habit to go looking around graveyards, but i just always find it fascinating looking at the headstones, seeing how old they are. the cemetaries in scotland are just so old, we don't have anything like it in australia! nothing so old anyway....
Everything youll need
by sparkieplug24
Depends how long your staying but a suitcase or large bag No matter what time of year your coming bring a mixture of clothes even in the summer it has been known to rain and be cold. So bring jumpers and a coat as well as summer stuff and dont for get your sunglasses. It tends to more expensive to buy toiletries here than most other place to which I have travelled. However you can buy most of this here. I would advice that you bring all medication that you need with you as what you can buy over the counter in the UK is a lot more restricted than other places and many medicines need a doctors prescription which can be very expensive. Bring everything you need for your equipment as we use different voltage etc. depends what your coming for. Remeber waterproof jacket
THE HILLHOUSE
by hevbell
The Hillhouse in Helensburgh, not far outside of Glasgow, along the River Clyde, is a National Trust property that showcases some of the work of Charles Renee MacIntosh who was commissioned to design the house and most of its interior. Its really interesting to see his furniture & decor in a house setting rather than just a museum. Its definitely well worth a visit but especially if you are a fan of his design style.

Books and Coffee
by mariocibelli about Borders Bookstore Cafe
The international chain Borders has a large four level branch in the main pedestrian shopping street. Great place to check out the huge Scottish guidebook section, not to mention books on Scotland not found easliy elsewhere. Nice place to take refuge from touring, have some coffee (even though it is the global monster Starbucks) - can meet people in cafe as it is an interesting cross-section of Glaswegians. Open till 11 PM on weekedays and thing till 10 on weekends, including Sunday.
Enchanting Opera house
by jeniferkik about THEATRE ROYAL
Home of the National OPera company ,Scottish Opera, and described as the most beautiful opera theatre in the land,it certainly doesn.t look like it from the outside but inside this lavish auditorium has exquisite acoustics .Their own orchestra has seperate concerts at ST.Andrews halls and this season with the acclaimed mainscale opera is back TAlex Reedijk taking over the helm as director general this month serious MAINSCALE opera is back. This season two large productions are in the offing. Carmen directed by Aiden lang and Don Giovanni opens May 2006.However as a venue this opera house stands head and shoulders above most broadway/westend venues and is well worth doing the Saturday guided tour.I saw the RSAMD CO-PRODUCTION OF CENDRILLON with theSaint Petersberg state conservatoire and if these young artists of the future are the future then music is in excellent hands. I was so impressed to see so manyyoung people in the audience .The state conservatoire was also complemented by seniors from Scottish Ballet. Wonderful night, wonderful location. You can email for a free dvd providing an insight to the companies educationalprogramme .E-mail audrey.blake@scottishopera.org.uk Did not appear to be black tie affair but it was distinctly glamourous
