I certainly would never recommend this Hotel to anyone. We had a small problem which was brought to the attention of the Manager, when he spoke to us he did so in a very unprofessional manner and he was extremely rude and harsh. Considering the amount of money we spent on the occasion, and to end up humiliated, deeply offended and upset, we would never return. Customer care is definitely not a consideration at this Hotel.

The most beautiful castles...

by vanderklis

The most beautiful castles aren't on the Historic Scotland passpartout. After having visited a lot of empty castles, you'll be delighted to see some furniture, a roof in top of the building, etc. Plan to see Scone Palace, Braemar Castle, Inveraray Castle, Glasgow Cathedral, Newark Castle and Culzean Castle. They're worth the entrance fee!

HAME

"Hame"

Regularly Voted Scotland's Best City without a Castle. Glasgow may not have the beauty of Edinburgh but it does have friendlier people than those who habitat the capital.
You'll find more enterainment talking to someone in a Glasgow bar than you'll ever get on your Guided tour of the Edinburgh Castle

clyde view apartments

by lollypop111

im going to Glasgow for my 30th does anyone know how near clyde view apartments clyde street is to the citycentre before i book it???

Re: clyde view apartments

Clyde Street runs along the north bank of the Clyde (duhhhhh) just south of the St Enoch Centre. That's very central.

However, there appear to be more than one "Clyde View Apartments" in google.

For example, there's one in Mavisbank Gardens G51 1HG

That's on the South Side of the river & a bit away from the City Centre.

Nearest underground is Sheilds Road, which isn't very nice.

So, if the one you are looking at is in Clyde Street, I would book it. If it's south of the river, I wouldn't.

If you have the postcode, bung it into google maps. If St Enoch tube or Argyle Street station are nearby, then go for it!

Clyde Street is in the city centre on the north bank of the river.

Travel Tips for Glasgow

Sports Grounds

by CelticFire

No trip to Glasgow would be complete without a mention of football. Celtic and Rangers both have their respective Stadia at opposite ends of the city, personally I would recommend the tour of Celtic Park.

However the museum of football history is also a good bet at Hampden Park.

A Quiet Little Place I Know, Hidden Away in Glasgo

by scotlandscotour

I have not eaten here, so cannot include it as a restaurant tip - though its menu looks nice and I wish I could eat there (too pricy for me).

Still, it looks nice from the outside too! This is hidden away down Ruthven Lane, off Byers Lane, in the West End. Took me a while to find it, and the arty craft shops within.

Looks interesting, and if you have some money, well worth trying, anything down Ruthven (on the basis that out of the way places need a good reputation to bring business in).

Favourite Glasgow bar

by clivedinburgh about Brel

Brel is a great Belgian bar in Ashton Lane that I find as a relaxing place to chill out in during the day. By night, as with all bars in the lane, this is packed to the gunnels. There is a dining area, a conservatory out the back and the large blue doors on the front consortina back in the summer to open the bar to the street. Casual
