The Victorian House is a large, pleasant hotel in an old building close to Glasgow School of Art. Because it is in an old-ish building ithe hotel had a warm, intimate feel. It was one of the few hotels to have a free room on the weekend I visited. I guess this is because it is not so well advertised as some of the larger places in the city. The rooms are excellent value - I think I paid £30 for a single room.
If you do not like hills, or steps, you may have a few problems. Renfrew Street is reached up steep roads and the hotel has some steep steps at the front.
Unique Quality: The breakfast was a big bonus for me - after all, I wanted to have the 'Scottish' experience. The hotel prides itself in its traditional Scottish breakfast, which (like many UK hotels) is included in the price. As well as the usual egg, bacon and orange juice you will find kippers, oatcakes and even haggis!
Directions: Renfrew Street is parallel to the well known shopping street, Sauchiehall Street. This is to the north of the city centre, very close to Glasgow School of Art.
