Cheap and cheerful.

This is a far better hostel than the SYHA hostel in Oban, clean rooms, proper beds instead of the usual hostel style bunks, in fact, it's more like staying in a friends house than in a hostel, the next time I'm in Oban, I know where I'll be staying!

Unique Quality: A decent breakfast is included in the price, and there is no curfew, soap in the bathroom and the worlds cutest dog is there as well!

The hostel for the budget traveler

We stayed here for 3 nights and for a hostel it was a very good deal. 8.50 pounds per person per night and almost all the rooms are small rooms of doubles (one larger dorm room). There are scones with tea or coffee and homemade jams for breakfast. It's more like a budget B&B than a hostel.

The one drawback is that the kitchen is pretty small, so it gets very crowded during breakfast.

We would recommend staying here if you are on a budget. Make sure to book in advance though, since there are a limited number of spaces and they can fill up quickly.

Unique Quality: The decoration of the rooms is very interesting. It's hard to describe, but the hostel staff makes an effort to make it feel more than a stale hostel room.

More than just a B&B!!

Well, if you want somewhere Cheap, warm and comfortable to stay, this is the place for you! A good base for exploring Oban and the surrounding area.

I stayed here for 2 nights in 2002, and had a great time. The staff were warm and welcoming. The place was quirky, but pleasant. How many hostels or hotels place a teddy, or cuddly rabbit on your bed?
Lots of artwork, prints, trinkets on display.

Open all year round. Hot Water bottles/electric blankets for when its cold!

I've never seen such a variety of teas to chose from, every type of herbal/fruit tea going! Freshly baked scones/doughnuts for breakfast, or whenever!

Unique Quality: I think the unique quality has to be the price £6.25 a night was all I paid (2002) A real bargain! (Its now £7 pppn shared or £12 single when available)

Reduced price ticket to Mc Tavishes Kitchens (another of Jeremy Inglis's businesses) A restaurant, offering Scottish dishes, plus a nightly Scottish show. It's a bit cheesey (A team of about 6, including 2 dancers, a singer (all the usual Scottish faves Donald wheres yer trousers, Campbletown Loch etc) Accordianist and fiddle. The night I was there there were about 12 nations represented in the crowd
