I went to Oban with my husband for our first wedding anniversary and had a very pleasant stay. I found Kilchrenan House charming. We had a lovely room with a sea view which was very comfortable. Colin (the owner) was both welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was great, we opted for the special that day being pancakes. Will be going back to stay again when we get the chance.
We have just returned from staying in Scotland. The Kilchrenan Guest House was booked from Perth in Australia via it's website. We looked at the photos of the rooms and phoned Colin up to make a booking.As you can imagine, we were apprehensive, but needn't have been. The house was lovely and so was our room. We had number 2 which was not too far up the stairs. The rooms were always kept clean and well stocked with tea, coffee, biscuits and a new bottle of water each day- very well appreciated.Colin and the breakfast staff made our stay very special. Nothing was too much trouble- even special requests for breakfast. If you are going out on an earlybird tour, ask Colin to make you a packed lunch, as you will miss breakfast. (You can get breakfast on the ferry.) Colin is local to the area and can recommend restaurants and trips for you. A welcoming Whisky /Sherry was taken advantage of, as was the complimentary fruit bowl.Also adding to our extra enjoyment of our stay here- the weather was fantastic.
My husband and I are just back from a short break of three nights in Oban, we found the lovely Kilchrenan House on the internet and phoned to make our booking after looking at the rooms on the internet we choose room 5 " the best room in the house "
On arrival we were warmly greeted by owner Colin who carried our bag up to our room on the first floor, the room itself was huge with a lovely bay window overlooking the bay and a sofa to sit in to watch the world go by. The bed was big and very comforable, the en suite was a surprise it had a cast iron roll top bath with a shower attachment fitted to the taps which was quite powerful, the bathroom also had two windows in it one looking up the street and the other looking out to sea.
Breakfasts were lovely with hubby going for the full cooked each day while I chose the daily special of pancakes with fresh fruit maple syrup and yogurt, porridge and again the pancakes on our last day.
Colin has menus for all of the main resurants in Oban and has a review for each one which is helpful we ate in the pizza place on pier one the first night ( forgotten its name ) it was great good value for money. The second night we went to the Waterfront but after sitting for over ten minutes without being offered a drink we decided to take our custom elsewhere and went to Ee-Usk the fish resturant on pier one the food was good if a bit expensive and the service was excellant.
While in Oban a visit to the distillary is a must as is climbing up to McCaigs Tower which overlooks the town the sunset from there was spectacular.
We will visit Oban again someday and would definately stay at Colin's again.
This B and B was the best out the 6 we stayed in Scotland. Colin was a great host. It's very clean and quiet. Beatiful views. We will stay here again next time we are in Scotland!
We had a great time at the Kilchrennan House. It is situated right on the water just North of the Main part of Oban's harbor, with lovely views not obstructed by parked cars on the street. Colin, the proprietor, is warm and friendly. The breakfast was very good with many choices-and good french press coffee! We were on the 3rd floor and had a sweeping view of the water. The room was very large and comfortable. A high recommendation!
I stayed at Kilchrenan House with my husband in August 2006. We were very pleased with our lovely room with four poster bed and great views if Oban bay.
We found everyone in the hotel very friendly, and it was good to see guests had returned on many occasions.
The breakfast was super, with all you could eat, and such much to choose from.
All in all a lovely break.

Well we have just returned from staying at Kilchrenan House in Oban, and we really enjoyed the 3 days we spent there. Colin the owner was very helpful and what a lovley welcome of a drink of either whiskey or sherry. We stayed in room 5, all I can say is wow, the views speak for themselves, stunning, and the room was really special.
I also wanted to say what lovley staff colin has, the two ladies who served breakfast were smashing, and on the breakfast note, excellant! A nice touch were colins specials each morning.
We have already recommended Kilchrenan House to friends.
This is a nice little B&B with a great view of the bay. It's convenient to walk to town but far enough from the main thoroughfares to be relatively quiet. Breakfast was good, although only served for an hour so we didn't have as much morning flexibilitiy as we would have liked. The room was cute (Room 8) but we found the bed to be too hard but I guess that's just a matter of taste. I would stay there again if I could book a room on a lower floor -- the top floor was a little claustrophobic for me.

My fiancee read reviews on this site and contacted the property direct to arrange booking, Colin took details over the telephone was very friendly and polite, We arrived at Kilchrenan house at 4 o'cclock and was greeted by Colin personally, as Leeann had mentioned he was so very friendly gave us a tour of the accomodation, offered us a complimentary drink and explanied the views of the islands, he also recommended places to eat, the room we stayed at was number 9, slightly different from photo there was no couch instead to very comfy chairs, the view was amazing and the place was so welcoming and very clean.
The breakfast was lovely food really really good, we were very impressed and Will be back without a doubt what a fantastic place to stay and service second to none!!!

We had a very enjoyable 1 night stay at this B&B. Very nice room, lovely new bathroom, and a great view of the bay.
The breakfast was very good indeed and Colin and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. We'll be back.
