Oyster Inn: Loved it...

I found this place through the town’s website. Great result.

We loved it.

The location is wonderful, opposite the Falls of Lora. The room was lovely, as were all the public areas. It has a residents’ lounge with a view over the sea.

Staff were all friendly, helpful and professional. We had a dinner there too, and I’ll do a separate tip on that.

The cost was fine - £110 for a double, including breakfast.

It’s on the main road (A85) into town, but at Connel Bridge - about 5 miles from Oban. The railway passes through, and the station is about half a mile away.

Highly recommended.

Ambience. Location.

Wide Mouthed Frog

Don't order the risotto as it comes sliced rather than the soft creamy consistancy a risotto should be and the the staff are rude asking you as a customer 'how do you know what it sould be like!' - not good service to me and nearly £17 for a slice of gammon and a few chips is not value for money!! Rude and bad food experience!!!!

Shame evening staff so rude and not customer focused unlike day bar staff!! Manager very confrontational!! so be careful if you need to complain about horrible food

Wellpark House: Very Nice B&B in a Quiet Location

Rabbies Tours uses Wellpark House as one of its B&B options in Oban. We spent two nights there. It is an excellent place to stay in a quiet location on the esplanade but within easy walking distance of downtown. Eric and Sharon are friendly and helpful. They even provided a sack breakfast when we had to take the early ferry to Mull. It was good: banana, quoissant, bread roll with butter and jam, orange juice and canned peaches. The regular Scottish breakfast the next morning was delicious. LOL, don't believe them when they say that it is just a "wee bit of breakfast."

Both the dining room on the ground floor and the lounge on the first floor have bay windows with wonderful views of Oban Bay and the waterfront.

The Barriemore: Bay View from My Window

We reached the hotel after dark; we were warmly received, and the hotel immediately gave us a home-like feeling. It's more like a large B&B, with the proprietors living there and personally running the place. Our room was on the top floor, and climbing the stairs with our luggage I noted the tartan carpeting and the teddy bears in every corner.
Our room was large and comfortable.
When we woke up in the morning and opened the curtain, we stood for a few moments by the window and admired the vista: Bay, islands, mist... We took a morning walk on the esplanade, just outside the hotel: inspiring views!
The breakfast options also included a generous portion of smoked kippers, to my wife's delight.
We were very happy with our choice of hotel in Oban.

Kinlochan B&B: What a View!

I lucked into staying here when I unexpectedly arrived back in Oban without reservations. The B&B where I had stayed previously was booked but the owner/manager Alex Cowan called around and found a vacancy in Kathy and Charlie's guesthouse. I felt so lucky to have found this place!

This is a beautiful old victorian home - very clean, comfortable and non-smoking! Yeah!!!

Charlie is a retired chef and his meals are Wonderful! And, they are HUGE! I had requested an omelet and oatmeal for breakfast. He served me a hot bowl of oatmeal, then a large omelet stuffed with veggies, big slices of toast, bacon, 4 small pancakes, a muffin, and a huge bowl of yogurt with fresh raspberrys, blueberrys, strawberrys, and cape gooseberrys. I waddled out of the dining room and I didn't eat again until late that night!!

StoneField Castle Hotel: Fine Scottish Baronial Architecture

The Castle was build in 1837 for the Campbell Family and is a fine example of Scotland's baronial style architecture. The hotel is well furnished with period pieces and has a distinctive Highland feel. We booked on a weekend deal break which included dinner and breakfast and double room with ensuite. TV's in all 33 rooms with some sky channels, although due to the mountainous location, the channels don't always work. Who needs TV anyway when you have spectacular views of Loch Fyne in a perfect peacefull & secluded location.

Oban Divers campsite: Check out the view

As explained on my intro page we went here as we did not fancy going to a guesthouse and we were not dissapointed. Lovely views and if you are on a budget this is the way to go a scenic and peaceful campsite! - well recommended.

A very peaceful campsite with great views and very friendly hosts.

Oban Youth Hostel

Located by the sea, with a nice view over Mull and Kerrera ISland, but maybe half a mile away from the city center, I found the location to be great, quiet and just right. The hostel itself is friendly and clean, there is internet access and laundry facilities.

Hotel Room Definitions

A word of warning for here and ALL hotels in the UK, if not the whole world - if you want a room for 1 person, you ask for a single room. If you want a room for 2 people with 2 beds, you ask for a TWIN BEDDED room - if you ask for a DOUBLE room, they assume you mean 2 people and 1 bed. That can add for some awkward moments and BIG assumptions!!!!

Rahoy Lodge

We stayed at a lovely Victorian detached villa in Gallanach on the shores of Oban Bay. You can get a lovely view of the Isle of Kerrera and Mull on a nice day. It was a B & B and very comfortable. We didn’t book, but we had an accommodation guide and just looked around when we got there.
