Dear all,
which good fish restaurant would you recommend in Oban?

There are many good fish restaurants in Oban, as it is a fishing port. The only one I have eaten at is the Waterfront Restaurant which was brilliant. However, I believe that Ee-usk and the Seafood Temple are also very good.
Without doubt the Sea Food Temple is a fine dining experience with large fresh seafood meals.My wife and i had a most memorable meal here recently and are happy to travel 120 miles to repeat the experience in December.We took a 3 uk pounds taxi ride to its location but were very happy to walk back to our hotel.Be advised the portions are very generous so starve yourself before dining.Only open Thurs,Frid,Sat, Sun with two sittings ,i think from memory and 6 and 8pm.
Travelling around & stopping off when you see an interesting place name is a favourite thing of mine. You will be rewarded with spectacular scenery & hardly anyone about. Discovering places not yet known to me & which really need a return visit to find more lovely lochs & picture perfect places to visit.
In Oban, we can get all seasons in one day - and I think this is something which is common across all of Scotland! It is a good idea to be prepared if you are going on a day out. A day which starts off sunny, may be raining by lunchtime! This year (2006) it is unseasonally cold. Although we are nearly in June, it is still quite cold and wet!
A few miles south of Oban is the so called "Atlantic Bridge". This bridge crosses over to the island of Seil and the stretch of water it spans is considered, certainly by the locals!, to be part of the Atlantic Ocean and therefore its claimed this is the only bridge that "spans the Atlantic"!
Oban has a long seafaring heritage, and fishing was once vital, there are still a few working fishing boats to be seen in the harbour, but these days tourism is much more important. Boats can however be hired for fishing trips and charters.
Dunstaffnage Castle consists of parts from many centuries dating back to the 12th. The present gatehouse was added in the 1600's. Unfortunately, they don't tell you that this part of the castle is still in private hands, and your admission charge does not get you into here! So like us you probably have to make do with peering through the windows, They could use a good window cleaner too....
