More about Harbour Nights Guest House

Excellent rest for weary travellers

by TripAdvisor Member KatrinaL

We were travelling around Scotland in very dreary weather when we decided to stop off at Arbroath. The room was magnificent, tea making facilities at the ready and chocolates on the bed were a nice touch. Bill even advised on the best place to eat and although we were drenched it was thoroughly enjoyable. The room was superb with a large bed and plenty of chairs to relax. The bathroom was clean and tidy and the shower is powerful enough to ease the aches of jorneying. The breakfast was superb with every need catered for. You fill in a small card to say what you would like for breakfast the following morning, which is a nice touch I have only ever come across in larger Hotels.

Ideal choice

by TripAdvisor Member RedLichtie

We visited this guest house between Christmas and New Year 2006 on the occasion of a reunion of school friends after 40 years apart. The location was perfect, being within easy walking distance of the centre of town and the Abbey; the food was excellent (makes my mouth water just thinking about it - Arbroath Smokies, etc.); the accommodation was extremely comfortable, well-decorated and very clean; the proprietor and his wife couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.

Probably the best recommendation we could make is to say we're looking forward to going back there.

Ian and Jenny Bingham,

Best in Scotland

by TripAdvisor Member fortuosity

We spent 17 nights travelling mainland Europe and Scotland, staying at a different place every night. This Guest House was, by far, the best place we stayed. The rooms were nicely decorated, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The host was quite personable. He recommended a restaurant and even called ahead for a table.

Our night in Arbroath was toward the end of our vacation. I was quite tired of the never changing Scottish breakfasts by this time. While the breakfast was still pretty traditional, the menu had a few unique options which were all delicious.

I thought the city of Arbroath was lovely. I enjoyed walking around the city. When I next visit Scotland, I will definitely spend a few nights here.

The Harbour Nights Inn...a must stay!

by TripAdvisor Member sharonkennett

We arrived in Arbroath, Scotland on a chilly, rainy and blustery evening. We were delighted to find this absolutely charming inn! Wonderful, comfortable, very comfy accomodations...a lovely breakfast and friendly innkeepers. It has a scenic view of the harbour and we would love to stay there again on our next visit to Scotland. We highly recommend The Harbour NIghts.

Thumbs Up for Harbour Lights!

by TripAdvisor Member Kerr_sailor

Harbour Lights is a great B&B. Host Bill has a superior understanding of the culinary arts, and his Arbroath smokies are a great treat. The room was spacious and clean, as well as being nicely appointed including a comfortable chair to relax in. Very convenient accessories, like the binoculars by the window to view the marina and harbor, well-rounded video selection if you are to tired to read, and a nice tea/coffee service in the room. Great stopover: walk down to the harbor from the train not difficult for me despite plantar fasciitis issues, and convenient walking to visit Arbroath Abbey (a must for those of us in pursuit of our roots or just bagging major historical sites). Host Bill recommended several restaurants for dinner, and he was right on the money helping me select one as a single traveler . A solid establishment and well run.

A guesthouse with a catch

by TripAdvisor Member g_wyper

When we first arrived at the hotel, we were greeted at the door. Despite constant phonecalls weeks and months prior to the booking there seemed to be a mix up in the allocation of rooms, although it was specified who would be sleeping where.

The booking for all five rooms were taken out and the staff were alerted that people would be arriving at different times due to work constaints. However this seemed very problematic, for whatever reasons I cannot understand. We were offered the keys for all of the rooms on arrival and give them to the rest of our party. However when we let them in the front door I was approached in an aggressive manner for letting "anyone in". I can't understand this because we were previous offered the keys to give to the others incase the owners had to nip out

The rooms themselves are flawless and the rooms are well worthy of the praise they have received A very unique guesthouse which is very well maintained. The owner also cooked a great morning meal.

The only drawback to the hotel is the hostile attitude displayed by the owner, at times it felt like a bootcamp. Please and Thank you, go a long way, it's not only a one-way thing. If these words were used more often and a less aggressive approach to dealing with guests were displayed this review would have been a lot more positive

Very comfortable anchorage.

We stayed here when it had only recently opened and were made very welcome. Our room overlooked the harbour , was well appointed and tastefully decorated with a very comfy bed.
Our breakfast was delicious and we would love to return one day when we are in the UK again.

relaxing break

by TripAdvisor Member bowlerStirlingshire

We have been going to Arbroath on holiday and week end breaks for a long number of years. Our family is now grown up and we have started these breaks as a couple. Being regular visitors to Arbroath we first noticed this comparitively new guest house about two years ago and were immediately struck by the fabulous location right at the harbour. The exterior of the establishment is in pristine condition and on entering it becomes apparent that a great deal of time, thought and effort has gone into making this a very comfortable place to stay.
Bill and Sunita along with there young son make very pleasant hosts and make sure that everything is done to ensure a very warm and hospitable stay.
The *Honeymoon Suite* which overlooks the harbour is as nice a room as we have ever stayed in. It is spacious, well furnished and the chocolate which is left on the pillow to greet your arrival is very thoughtful. Guests are invited to fill in a form with there choice of time for breakfast as well as choice of food from a very good selection of local produce. The breakfast is excellent and really sets the traveller up for the rest of the day

This is without doubt the best place to stay when visiting Arbroath and the Angus region and will remain one of our favourites for a long time to come.

Excellent, would definately go there again
