Tressait
Tressait is located on Loch Tummel, a short drive north-west of Perth. It's a gorgeous little place that we couldn't help but stop at... :)

Dating from 1269, Blair Castle is a couple of miles outside the village of Blair Atholl. Whitewashed, turreted, its location, in its own parkland and surrounding by the brooding Grampian Mountains.
Open to the public, its very much a 'hunter's' castle - stuffed animals, military might etcabound.
From Perth, the Perth-Inverness train stops at Blair Atholl (and can be easily combined with Pilochry if full hikes through the countryside are not proposed)
Last night I was walking around the centre of Perth, and I found a little known alley down which there was a tatty little sign, 6 inches square, marking the site of the Kings Arms - where "the king stayed and met" and I thought to myself, where else would such a beautiful and historical site be totally sidelined and passed by?
Perth is rich in history and archaeology - largely preserved by the waterlogged soil beside the river.
It is the centre for the Scottish Urban Archaeological Trust and Perth Heritage Trust, both busy researching and recording a vast wealth of finds and knowledge.
It is quite amazing - but unknown to tourists - even locals - who pass by, busy shopping or working or passing through!
The archaeologists have been busy in Perth - and though you cannot see much yourself - with the help of one of the local guides you can unearth a fantastic history - from Medieval times right back to the start of the nation and beyond!!!
Iron Age, Pictish and Roman evidence abounds. Also much from earlier, in the bronze age, being discovered now, all around Perth.
Sshhh .... don't tell everyone!
"Twin" town in another continent....
We have never expected to find "Perth" in Scotland…. This one looks like a small town as we hardly see any residents walking along the street. Kind of quiet....so if you ever get lost...asked the FIRST person you came across. Don't ever think of waiting for the next one...in case this one doesn't look too friendly. But TRUST me; they are actually quite nice.
A good place for postcards hunting! I find some nice postcards (including castles cards) at the stores and even in the supermarket. You don’t find postcards on the shelf of the supermarket back home. Well...you always find something new and different. That was why I love traveling at my own pace!
I find that the streets were pretty systematized and after a day; I even attempted to look for a short-cut from the train station back to our hostel…in hoping to find some surprises while exploring a different route…
Missing Home....
I started to miss HOME badly when in Perth. The name probably “sound” like I was close to home… Especially when we sat at the porch of the hostel…staring at the sky…I wonder what was everyone doing back home???!!!
Its time I headed to HOME SWEET HOME…after two weeks on the road…
