Tourist Signs & Derelict Church - Perth's Tourism
by scotlandscotour
Perth is a funny place. The High street is dominated by this old church - St Pauls - which has been empty and neglected all the time I've been here (7 years now). It is often referred to as The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, because of the plants and trees that have self seeded in its gutters. And see the mould growing on its walls!
I am amused by the money spent on sign posting (not many places), but placing it in front of this mess seems a waste.
Sadly, the trust founded to preserve the church has recently (2004) disbanded and the present owners are confident they will get permission to knock it down :(
It seems Scotland just doesn't value these buildings. So if you want to see places like this - hurry!!!
Have a look at this website below. Anyone who can help with building renovation or is similarly distressed by such neglect, please get in touch. The website below has lots of pictures of castles and stone houses being left to fall down, often replaced by modern, generic houses.
Lochleven
by stevezero
Lochleven south of Perth is a large loch. It has several islands, one with a castle and another with a priory.
There is also a wildlife reserve, birrdwatching, walks along the banks, Also it is wel known for its trout fishing, and boats are available to hire

"Intro."
Perth is a fair central city in Scotland. Every Summer home to beautiful flowers, a true picturesk city. Home to some amazing people. The basis of me. Home to most of my fondest childhood memories, where 80% of my education took place.
Perth

Genteel is the word that springs to mind when thinking of Perth. Its the former Scottish capital, sits surrounded by fertile agricultural land and aside the river Tay.
Having said that, its a sedate, slow paced place, prosperous without being showy, attractive without anything outstanding. But it also has its fair selection of cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as a few well-established live music venues.
Its a great place to explore the surrounding countryside, sitting as it does on the major rail link that connects both Glasgow and Edinburgh with the east coast and Aberdeen or the centre and Inverness.
