Photos of Castles etc.
by williamleslie
Hello Folks;
I am travelling to Perth in August for the Clan Leslie Gathering. I need some digital photographs of the main tourist attractions like, Scone Castle, Abernethy Tower, etc. to print in the Clan Leslie International newsletter. Does anyone have photos that they can allow me to use one time in our newsletter?

Why don't you look at the Perth etc. pages here on VT and mail people whose photos you would find it interesting to use. They might not all see your posting here if they are busy :)

Check out Scotlandscotour, http://www.virtualtourist.com/m/70ef2/ , perth page, he lives here and has it very well covered. I too live in the Fair City of Perth but tend to concentrate on my foreign trips, anyway if there is any other specific questions you want to ask just holla.

Why don't you contact Perthshire Tourist Board at info@perthshire.co.uk as they have a photo library so they maybe able to send you some images of Scone Palace etc.

Travel Tips for Perth
Loch Earn
by stevezero
We stopped of briefly at Loch Earn on our way from Dunfermline to thw west coast. Enjoying a coffee in a secluded layby, we were treaed to the gentle sound of lapping water, and nice views with snow capped hills in the background. We were quite impressed and regarded it more highly than our experiences with Loch Lomond.
The deepest part (87m) is located near the western end. It is 10.5 km from east to west and at it's widest is 0.8 km. Lochearnhead is situated at its western end of the Loch and St. Fillans village at the eastern. From here the River Earn flows east out of the Loch, down through Strathearn and joins the River Tay Estuary 75 km away.
The Loch basin was dug out by the enormous erosional power of ice during the glacial periods of the last 2million years.
The loch is a centre for fishing, canooing, sailing and other water sports.
Location - about 30kms west of Perth on the A85
River Tay
by stevezero
The river tay flows through Perth, into the Firth of Tay, before reaching the sea near Dundee.
It is a navigable river has can been seen from this large barge heading up towards Perth near Elcho castle

"Good value"
Perth is easily accessed from Edinburgh and Glasgow. Its worth a visit on its own, and its on the way to the Highlands and the north east.
Has some good hotels & restaurants. Good shopping too (if you like that kind of thing).
My son played ice hockey for the Perth Juniors club - now defunct - for 5 seasons, so we got to know the place pretty well.
"To do"
Horse racing in summer.
Swimming pool & ice rink in winter (it's a big curling centre).
