Scourie Caravan and Camping Park: Basking in the Sun

Not a bad looking camp site, quite popular but I dare say we would have found room if we had wanted to stay.

The camp site is right in the village, just off the road to Scourie pier and sits above Scourie Bay. Great coastal views and sunsets. To the left is the beautiful sandy beach of Scourie.

Four acres of terraced pitching on grass and an area of hardstandings. Electric hook ups, ample hot water, restaurant on site.

Open April - Sept.

It's wonderful location and close to all amenities.

There is a really interesting review on this site below, giving an indepth report on the owner's character!!

The Perfect Pitch.....: Wild Camping On Loch Laxford

We arrived here at lunchtime on a beautiful day. We ended up staying a couple of nights, it was such a lovely location.

There is a reasonable parking area, but not exactly level, we ended up at a bit of an angle but what the heck! Just make sure you leave the boathouse doors clear and the beach by the jetty as boats come and go from here and are put in the water and taken away by vehicles. When we arrived, there was a launch that was used to take guests out on the loch who were staying at the lodge up the road. We asked their advice about staying the night, no problems. When we asked about fishing, we were told by the gilly that we were not to catch the sea trout from the river mouth as they were too small and almost an endangered species. He came down a few times during his evening shift to ask us if we had caught anything, but we had had no luck, not even any mackerel which we would have been happy with.

Sunsets, location, fantastically indented sea loch and no habitation for miles. The best thing was on the morning we left, I actually saw an otter run across the beach. I had been on the look out all holiday so I was thrilled, even if it was only a fleeting glimpse.

We even had a supply of fresh water for washing etc. from a boat which had collected a good few inches of rainwater. So not only did we have water but we did the boat owners a favour!!
