After many years of holidaying aboard and a fair few cruises, decided on a coach tour with the Highland Heritage team, and what a surprise it was. This package as are the rest are run with the style of a modern cruise liner, after getting over the feeder service and travel to the hotel, you enter the hotel grounds in Tydrum, to be met by all the crew at the entrance including your host Morgan,
After the welcome from Morgan( the Manager ) the crew have taken your cases to your room, where you will find the key in the door ready for you, no signing in, no queuing, and before you board this ship
(Sorry hotel) you are met with the gel sanitizer which becomes part of the norm, when entering and leaving. You embark into the hotel at ground level, and an short lift or stairs to your room, The rooms are to a comfortable standard with TV, kettle, coffee tea, biscuits and a bowl of fruit if required, Not sure where the hot water comes, but there is plenty and it is hot, towels changed daily and rooms cleaned whilst you are out,
You are summoned to the restaurant on the top deck, to the right, to be met by all the staff on duty, to welcome you in, plus your splash of sanitizing gel, once seated there is a three course meal provided which varies each night, starters are ready on a trolley for which you choose, then main course served on the plate and veg to share, You need to mix in well with your fellow guests, because that’s your table for the tour. Normally all finished for 8:15 pm tables cleared and you retire to the lounge on the left of the lifts, but more later.
Breakfast is the same at the evening meal staff pipe you in at exactly 8:30am with the good mornings or was it good Morgan, again it’s a choice of 3 starters never changes, and main course of full breakfast or kippers you decide, fresh bread buns baked on the premises and pots of tea, plenty to fill you for the coach trip to start at 9:30am,
Entertainment, we were there 4 nights with a different choice each night, depending on your taste, but me thinks it is time to pension off Storming Norman, Mr Cleaver but he did clear the room early, Its starts at 8:30pm to finish for 10:30pm lights out 10;45pm no, only kidding but the main door is padlocked at 11:45pm so make sure you are in ,there is a bar in the village called Paddys Bar which was used a lot by escaping guests.
The tours were planned to get you out of the hotel normally returning for 5:30pm to allow a quick wash, shower then up for your meal, if you want drinks with your meal you need to purchase before 7:00pm as it closes until 8:30pm, but prices were reasonable for a hotel,
Overall a rather enjoyable holiday due to all the hard working staff, the Manager Morgan, the drivers, and the stunning scenery plus meeting a lot of new friends for the price paid, will be booking again.
just go with the flow
