Penarth Ganol Farmhouse B&B: Travel back in Time

by Elena77

We did, unfortunately, only stay at Penarth Ganol for one day. We arrived pretty late at night but the owner has still been awake waiting for us to explain everything and to show us our rooms.
The B&B is at an old stone and slate farmhouse building (from about 1780) which creates a very charming atmosphere, the rooms are traditionally decorated, quite big and both do have their own bathroom.
Different options of breakfast available- including vegetarian.
I can highly recommend this B&B to everyone (except for people with an allergy to either cats or dogs).

B&B on a working farm with (50) sheep and several horses
Overlooking the Roman Goldmines
Private trout pond for fishing
Offers stabling/ grazing for horses
Ideal for bird watching (over 46 species)

Rhyd Country House Cardigan

by Krumlovgirl

The Rhyd Country House is a B&B located 4 miles outside of Cardigan. From the front, it is a large, gray, stone house that still looks as if it is being used as a family home. The inside is decorated in a modern, bright way that reflects the relatively young ages of the hosts, Michelle and Nigel. In the main entrance, there is a small bar area where you can order drinks, and through the foyer a parlor made up of brown leather chairs, cozy tables, and a working fireplace. The bedrooms are average-sized for a B&B and tastefully decorated. The master suite also boasts a Jacuzzi tub in its massive bathroom. Apart from the rooms, the B&B has its own onsite restaurant that uses produce grown from their personal garden. The restaurant is pretty much reservation only and fairly upscale for the area. Once again, the dining room is decorated in a modern style, and would feel at home in New York City or London.

Our Stay
We stayed at the B&B to celebrate our anniversary and had very good service. We got the master suite, although I was able to peek into the other rooms to get a good feel for the place. Our room was definitely the largest and there was plenty of room for us to move around in. We had a teapot in the room, good news for Pete, and a hairdryer, good news for me. The bathroom was very large and the Jacuzzi tub an added bonus-although DON’T put any bubblebath in it if you plan to use the jets.

For dinner, we ate in their restaurant and it was a very pleasant experience. I am going to do a separate review on it under the ‘restaurants’ section.

The only problem with our stay was that the lady forgot to turn up the sensor during the night, meaning that there wasn’t any heat when we got up the next morning. It was pretty cold.

The breakfast part was amazing. We both got huge plates of sausages, eggs, ham, tomatoes, mushrooms, and toast. And I had a bowl of cereal. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh.

The family pets, two dogs and a cat, were a nice added bonus to the place. We especially wanted to take the cat home with us.
