My partner and I decided to go to tenby to spend some time with each other, however our evening meal (where we were the only guests) was ruined by the person who was serving us as he wouldn't leave us alone, he was so drunk as he was knocking back pints at the same time! I would have let this go but a few days later we found we were charged £90 for a bedside table!! We are now disputing this with my partners credit card. I had heard of hotels overcharging to gain revenue but didn't know it was true! This has caused such a headache for us. I hope people will choose elsewhere if they are going to tenby for a good time.
Walking on the beach, gazing at the horizon over the beautiful smooth water. Watching the fishing fleet peacefully at anchor in the bay. Watching the sunrise from the hotel window in the morning, seeing the sun light the bay, and the boats floating in it.
Saundersfoot
by HORSCHECK
The popular seaside resort of Saundersfoot is easily reached for a day trip by train from Tenby. It has a nice sandy beach and a lively touristy city centre. The town can become very crowded in summer. A short walk outside the town centre the 13th century St. Issell Church is well worth seeing.
Tenby Town Walls
by Myfanwe
The town walls encircle the medieval town of Tenby. They date back as far as 1260. In 1457 Jasper Tudor, earl of Pembrokeshire, made the walls stronger.
Interestingly, the arrow slots which can be seen along the top of the town walls, used to be homes for hundreds of pigeons nesting in Tenby. Unfortunately due to the damage these birds were doing to the historical walls they no longer nest there as the slots are all now blocked up. The walls were so strong that they were used for battle and substantial ruins are still here today.
Tenby
by grayfo
Tenby has been a popular seaside resort since the days of the Victorians, and today, it is just as popular. The Welsh name for Tenby is Dinbych-y-Pysgod, meaning Little Fortress of the Fish and is a reference to the town’s history. The walls of Tenby are the original boundaries that were used to protect the town from the Welsh rebellion.
Browse along Tenby’s narrow cobbled streets, full of gift shops, cafes and restaurants, or go down to the busy harbour and take a cruise to nearby Caldey Island. Caldey is home to a Monastery of Cistercian Monks who make the most delicious chocolate.
