A lovely, very friendly guest house, it is close to the town centre, has its own parking and does the biggest (just ask for theDesperate Dan omlette) breakfast in Abergavenny using their own eggs! Kids love all the animals, just watch out for Sammy the parrot he knows some colourful language!
I haven't stayed here, but have booked lots of people in and my mother in law has stayed (I work in a Tourist info centre) its just got four stars, great welcome, good food. Its close to (but not too close) the railway station if you are coming by train. Two Double ensuite rooms and one twin ensuite room.
nice old house in a big garden.
We arrived late in the evening in Abergavenny without having booked a place to stay. After parking the car just below the town the first place we came across was the Swan Hotel which offered double rooms for 50 pounds a night. We had a quick check on the main street to see if we could find a better offer but everything was either more expensive or full up.
Fifty pounds was a little more than we hoped to pay but the hotel was in a good location at the bottom of Cross street. The hotel was a little bit old fashioned but the room was fine and had TV and bathroom. The staff were very friendly while, best of all, a lovely English breakfast was included in the price. This was just what we needed before climbing the Sugar Loaf mountain the following morning.
