We were a group of golfers stayed at the riverside hotel ideal for great golf courses in this area for eg The Rolls of Monmouth probile the best course in South Wales. The Hotel was very friendly good food good prices on both food and drink. The rooms were clean and had more facilities than many four star Hotels. We stayed here in June 2011 and we are now returing in August 2011, and will definatly return in the future. This Hotel is idealy situated for visits to this area of Wales.

Travel Tips for Monmouth

by Myfanwe

Monmouth is a lovely little Welsh market town situated near the border between Wales and England. The town has grown around the confluence of three rivers, the Rivers Wye, Monnow and Trothy provide many scenic walks in the area and are very popular with boating activities - whilst we were there we were lucky enough to see some boat races on the Wye.

There is a lovely bustling main street in Monmouth with many quaint shops selling local gifts as well as a few high street ones thrown in for good measure.

"Historic Monmouth"

Monmouth is perhaps best known as the birthplace of Henry V, although it also boasts a whole host of historical sites, people and buildings from the Nelson Garden to The Town Hall. It has a medieval 13th-century bridge over the river Monnow, unique in Britain as it is the only preserved bridge of its design remaining.

"Photo Journal of Monmouth"

I lived in Monmouth for eighteen years, working first with a local recording company there and then running my own design and photography business.

The area is rich in local history, sits slap in the middle of some of the best countryside in the UK and has the beautiful River Wye running through it which is a draw for canoeists and adventure holidaymakers from all over the world.

The nature, landscape and some of the everyday life of the town is covered in my main Monmouth set on my Flickr pages. Click here to visit.

There is also a set of shots made around the River Wye. Click here for those.

There will be more detail added on these pages about specific attractions and events soon. The Town has two main websites for lots of other information though:
