We stayed here for three nights and used it as a base for touring around the area. Our room was situated to the side of the building giving us a view of the menai straits to the one side and the mountains to the other. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of storage space for your clothes and tea/coffee making facilities. The shower/toilets were shared between the other residents. There were 2 shower rooms and 3 toilets between about 8 rooms. Our room was right next door to the shower room/toilet which was quite handy indeed. Towels are provided in your rooms but there is no hairdryer so ladies take note!! The double room cost 22.50 each per night (April 2010) which was a real bargain considering the idyllic location. Even though the rooms were directly above the pub, I did not hear any noise during the night at all.
The Abbey Hotel is situated right in the city centre on the High St. Because of it's location it is going to be quite noisey especialy on a Thursday night when lots of people leave Varsity in the early hours after the £1 per drink night. And I belive they are very very noisey.
If you don't mind a bit of noise though it is a cheap place to stay with rooms from £20
Not only do the Tap & Spile offer great beer, Good food and entertainment (See the Restaurant review) they also have rooms from just £20 per person per night.
I have booked to stay here on the weekend of my 40th Birthday as it is near to were my son lives and we will use it as a base to show Vicki (|Myfanwe) some of the sights of North Wales
