More about Castlebank Hotel

Nearly Perfect

by TripAdvisor Member RoadLessTraveller

The Castlebank was the best place that we stayed on our vacation. The view from the hotel was wonderful. The food was excellent and the service was absolutely extraordinary. The Castlebank is a superb Value with wonderful food and spirits.
Best: Service, Food, Location, Ambiance.
Worst: These are very minor - It is a small hotel which was converted from a private residence so be aware. The room could have used a ceiling fan since there was no AC.

Love coming back!!!

by TripAdvisor Member MikenSue

Sue and I havebeen returning to The Castlebank Hotel now for the past three years. The kindness, courtesy and feeling of welcome comes as standard, as does the quality of the cooking and service provided by Jo and Henrique Nothing is too much trouble and we almost feel guilty when it is time to leave but, as we know we will be back again, the feeling soon passes.
If you are in North Wales a visit to Conway and Castlebank is a must.

Cosy stay in Conway

by TripAdvisor Member

This exquisite little hotel is a real find. Being as nosy as we are, we had a little tour of the other rooms and faced a hard choice – which room to choose. All rooms were individually decorated and were presented with many home comforts - my wife especially enjoyed the magazine collection.

We decided to dine in the hotel as the menu and wine list was excellent. We can’t normally manage 3 courses but on this occasion, it was a must. The sincere service and attention to detail rivalled that of any great restaurant and they serve a great breakfast.

If you’re looking to visit North Wales, Castlebank Hotel is the only place to stay! We’ve already booked again for a family party as a treat to our parents.

Ideal stay at Castlebank

This is the place to stay if you are visiting North Wales. The hotel is located 100 paces from the outer wall of Conway Castle. The hotel is well furnished, tidy, well maintained and well cared for. The meals were delightful, delicious and Jo and Henrique were courteous, friendly and helpful. The hotel is several miles from the train station and well located if you want to drive to the local castles, which we did. We are looking forward to visiting in several years to see the remainder of the sites we missed on our first visit. If you want a relaxing visit, stay at the Castlebank Hotel. A++, recommended.

A big thank you to Jo and Henrique

We have just returned from a short break to North Wales to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we chose the delightful Castlebank Hotel in Conwy. Not only is Conwy a good base for exploring all the delights that North Wales has to offer, but we couldn't have done any better in finding this marvellous cosy retreat to treat as a base.
The Castlebank hotel is situated close to the Conwy city walls, it enjoys marvellous views of the bay, Conwy Castle and is within easy walking distance of the town.
The hotel itself really feels like a home from home and this is not only down to the way it has been tastefully furnished and maintained, but also because the proprietors Jo and Henrique genuinely made us feel very welcome during our stay.
We were delighted that we'd chosen Bed, Breakfast and evening meal because the food and service were excellent.
If you're looking for a relaxing break, a friendly atmosphere and excellent food then the Castlebank Hotel is the place for you. We will certainly be going back again.

Family at Castlebank

by TripAdvisor Member Cincy2

Our family of 4 booked one room during the holidays. We were on the top floor in room 8. There was an odd odor in the room so I suspect that a previous guest had been smoking. The roof lines were slanted , and only one small window made the room feel closed in. To be honest we were advised that the room would be a bit tight for the 4 of us, and it was. The hotel location is wonderful and breakfast was fine. Perhaps this particular room is not the best one.

brilliant hotel

by TripAdvisor Member SalfordTraveller

we have just returned from a weekend stay at this lovely relaxed hotel. first time visitors who arrived as strangers but left feeling like special friends. this hotel is comfy but dont be misled in thinking that means basic, it just means although everything is top quality you were not made to feel uncomfortable! the food is excellent with options for diversion off main menu, the wine list is varied and good value. the hosts make you feel special and the hotel is family friendly.

Very nice stay

by TripAdvisor Member DiandP

We can thoroughly recommend this hotel for a stay in Conwy. Very pleasant with friendly owners, clean and comfortable rooms and very good value. We didn't have the chance to try the restaurant in the evening as it was fully booked but the breakfast was excellent.

Somewhat disappointing

by TripAdvisor Member B'hamvoyager

We stayed in September 2006 for a few nights.
Good points - friendly owners, good breakfasts, very good location, parking
Bad points - quality of room/value for money for room
value for money for evening meal

Our room was on the top floor (a bit of a jaunt which was rather irritating as the room quality was not as good as expected) and hadn't been renovated by the owners and it did appear somewhat tired. The ensuite was tiny - too small for comfort (and we aren't very big people). The sink didn't fit into the ensuite and was in this room - this was actually a blessing as the ensuite was so small. We hadn't been told it was just a showerroom and not a bathroom which was rather disappointing for a bath lover. Only one side of the double bed had anything that passed for a bedside table which was rather inconvenient. I felt that the room did not justify the price and would suggest asking some questions about which room you are getting when you book. The communal areas were nice and I think some of the rooms were better judging from other reviews. The owner admitted our room hadn't been renovated and implied that others had been.

We had one evening meal in the hotel and didn't bother again as the quality was that of a fairly standard pub, but the prices were on the high side for that sort of fare. You can get much better value for money in town and it is a very short walk in. The next morning I didn't have high expectations for breakfast, but breakfast was lovely every day.

Would consider staying again, but would insist on a better room and would eat all evening meals out.

A great little hotel in a great town !!

A very nice room, a charming host, and an environment that was congenial and comfortable. An excellent experience in a wonderful town...
