Conwy Touring Park: A lovely campsite..

Conwy Touring park is a huge campsite situated in the hills above Conwy, about 10 minutes drive away from the Centre of Town. It covers a huge area and is very spacious and well organised. The Camping areas consist of a number of small fields separated from each other by hedges and natural woodland. Each area has its' own shower block consisting of toilets, drying room and dishwashing sinks. The shower block was modern and kept spotlessly clean, the only drawback was that there were no 'dry' areas in the showers. The camping pitches were lovely and flat and were generous in size, you are allocated your pitch when you sign in at reception and are also given a security code which will let you in and out of the entrance barrier.

The scenery surrounding the park is outstanding, although we didn't have any views as such from our pitch a short walk around the corner took us to a field on the hill side overlooking the River Conwy as it meandered down the valley towards the estuary, this view was perfect and one of the highlights of my stay there.

Conwy touring park has a wonderful pub on site called the Swallows Nest. It was about a ten minute walk away from where we were camping but we managed to find it by taking quite a few short cuts through various other camping/caravan fields. It is a great place for families and adults, there is a soft play area with great looking slides, an outdoor play area, outdoor seating on the patio and also an adults only area inside the bar.

Apart from the rain when we were taking our tent down I would say this was a great experience and a lovely area to camp in.

Unique Quality: The views over the Estuary.

Escape B&B in Llandudno: Escape B&B in Llandudno

Ok, this B&B is not actually in Conwy, but it is just 5 miles away in Llandudno and was so fabulous that I thought you might be interested…

On our long weekend to North Wales we stayed in the town of Llandudno. The main reason we decided to base ourselves here was because of the fabulous sounding B&B I had read about - Escape B&B. The reviews I had come across were so good that we just had to check this place out for ourselves. Thankfully it lived up to its reputation!

Escape is a 5 Star B&B, located only a short walk from the main attractions of Llandudno. Located in a gorgeous 3 storey Victorian Villa, Escape looks impressive from the outside, and the inside is just as good.

The ground floor has a stylish lounge area with a large screen TV, if you feel like relaxing here rather than in your room. Here you will find the "honesty bar", stocked with beer, wine and such. Just take what you want and note it down on the list, to be added to your bill. There is also a good selection of DVD's you can borrow to watch in your room.

There is also a dining room, where the tasty breakfasts are served. Breakfast is included in the room rate and was excellent. We enjoyed good coffee, fresh juice, porridge and a hot Welsh breakfast. The food was fresh and good quality, very well presented, and served with a smile.

The very friendly and helpful owners, Sam & Gaenor, were available to offer advice on places to eat and things to see in Llandudno and the surrounding area.

Unique Quality: There are 9 rooms and they are all individually designed, offering you a choice when you book of what type of décor you prefer - from retro, to 'urban cool', there is something for everyone. The furnishings and fittings are good quality and everything is well maintained. Each room has a flat screen TV, DVD player and ensuite with AVEDA toiletries.

We chose the Retro room (number 5) as we are partial to a bit of retro! It was perfectly fitted out - from the padded head board to the groovy light fittings, and had great views over the town. The bathroom had a big shower with a huge shower rose, and the mirror was freaky - it had these small lights inside that reflected and created a strange effect (see photo), but there was also one of those great shaving/makeup mirrors, so it was all good.

We really loved our stay at Escape B&B and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
