Only stayed here for a night, but on this basis alone would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to other travellers. Firstly they gave us a good deal outside of the advertised rates - it was just before a May holiday here in the UK and the hotel wasn't full. Secondly they then threw in an upgrade to a room with four-poster etc. The room was furnished with antique stuff - the cupboards were old so of course they're going to creak and groan when you open the doors - they're antique not bland modern stuff!
The staff were lovely really helpful and quick to share tips on where to go next.
The grounds of the hotel are lovely - beautiful gardens etc but if you're a light sleeper I would suggest keeping your windows closed if you want to avoid being woken by the guinea-fowl dawn chorus outside your window!!!!
The only drawback was the restaurant - we didn't eat there as it seemed very expensive and as the hotel was very quiet we didn't fancy being the only diners!!!
Unique Quality: A lovely traditional country house hotel - I would love to come back here in the middle of winter to experience the roaring fires....
