More about Quay Hotel & Spa Conwy Bay

5 star it really is.....

by TripAdvisor Member maxelaine

Well we went to the Quay Hotel to try and Relax, and boy what did we find!!

The Restaurant - Vue was wonderfull, the deputy manager was attentitive to all our needs - the food was outstanding and the assiette for two was enough for 4!! TOP CLASS.

The Spa was out of this world it totally exceeded my expectations - I came to relax and thats exactly what I did.

Ever member of Staff really made our stay one to remenber and the porters are great.

Our room 236, was on the ground floor with our own little garden looking at the castle!! wow!!

We travelled with our little one year old little girl, and at no time were we made to feel as if we were in the way (theese days Hotels of this class are making young families feel unwelcome - its a shame!!) But the Quay was FANTASTIC.

This Hotel IS a 5 Star, and I will be back!!
Thanks to all the staff at the Quay Hotel.

Nice- but don't bother with the restaurant

by TripAdvisor Member Anon1Dorset

The Quay Hotel is a very nice - clean, modern and friendly. However, I would say to anyone staying there - don't bother having dinner in the restaurant in the evening as it is not good value for money, with small 'fancy' portions which do not fill you up and cost a fortune.

However, the meals served in the lounge bar, although the menu is more limited, were very good value - hot, tasty and good portion size.

Other than this, we enjoyed our stay and would return.

Some reservations

by TripAdvisor Member Shantam

We booked via Lastminute and paid for an executive room. When we arrived our room wasn't ready and we had to wait till 4pm which was their published check in time which was fine although we were led to believe at reception that it would probably be ready by about two so we wasted an afternoon waiting..
The room was large and attractive with a spectacular view over the estuary and Conwy. The bathroom however was average for a hotel which claims to be 5* but the Aromatherapy Associates goodies were excellent.

The restaurant was excellent value and quality , much better value than the food in the lounge. Breakfast was very expensive if not included in your tarrif, especially when coffee seemed to be on ration; if they are not going to trust you with your own coffee pot they should make sure that refills are readily available.

Some of the service was not good enough, the requested turndown service and newspapers didn't materialise and we had to ask for bills and service too often. When we checked out our bill included the cost of accommodation despite the fact that this had been paid .It is however a nice hotel with friendly staff in a a beautiful setting - just don't be seduced by the 5* rating.

Punch & Judy show on the promenade

by lomi

Even though my children are grown up and its not very pc, I love to visit the promenade to see the traditional Punch & Judy show in Llandudno.

The Punch & Judy man of my childhood has found it harder and harder to make a living from his seaside pitch. There are probably no more than a dozen resorts left in the UK with a resident Punch show on the beach, promenade or pier.

Open Easter - to end August.

The traditional Punch & Judy Show originated in Italy and became popular street entertainment to the Victorians at the Seaside, as they flocked to the coastal resorts.
