Great Orme Mine
by sue_stone
Located halfway up the huge limestone headland, the Great Orme Mine is the only Bronze Age copper mine in Europe that can be visited by the public. It has over 4 miles of tunnels, some dating back as far as 600 BC!
You can take a sneak peak if you are riding the Great Orme Tramway, or why not stop off for a closer look. Visitors can walk into the hillside along specially built walkways which cross the very small Bronze Age working areas. It gives you a feel for what a miners life may have been like.
The mine is open from Feb - Oct and is a popular attraction for visitors to Llandudno.
Happy, happy, happy time.

The wonderfully cheesily named 'happy Valley' has been a feature of llandudno since 1890. As with most things in the town it was a gift from the Mostyn family who planned and built the town.
'Happy Valley' is, in essence, LLandudno's main public park and open play area. It nestles just above the pier in the foothills of the Great Orme. It includes a rather nice rock garden, a number of sculptures, a modern Druid's (what the hell is a modern Druid ?, cloaks by Versace ?) stone circle and a Camera Obsura, alng with the usual bits and pieces you would expect in a park.
It also is the starting point for the longest cable car in the U.K. It ascends the great Orme from the gardens.
A very pleasant place for a stroll, and to admire the views of the town from.
Llandudno

Llandudno in North Wale, is a typical Victorian sea side town.
The promenade is flat, long and crescent shaped. Llandudno's most famous landmark is the Great Orme which is a mound that juts out into the North sea.
The resort has something for everyone, there is a little tourist train that will take you on a tour of the towns attractions. They also have an lovely old bus that takes you on a conducted tour along the Marine Drive.
"One Wet and Windy Day"
It was a very cold, wet and windy day in Llandudno when my brothers, sisters and I arranged to meet up in Llandudno. Why Landudno ? Well this was my mothers favorite holiday destination, so, when she died we (her 5 children), donated a bench and a Magnolia tree in her memory, which was put into the Haulfre Gardens on the West Shore.
