The Atlantic Hotel: Great sea views

The Atlantic hotel is a really comfortable hotel situated right along side Porthcawl sea front. The town of Porthcawl is a few minutes walk away & it is ideal for taking a stroll across the rolling moors of lock common to the award winning beach of Rest Bay.

We stayed here during Christmas-time and had a really wonderful time. The staff were friendly and accomodating, nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant and bar meals are of a very high standard, the newly added conservatory area provides a perfect place for lunch offering panoramic views of the sea. Our room was at the back of the hotel so we didn't have a sea view but it was really spacious and modern. The bathroom was huge & everything was spotless. On the first floor there is a great residents lounge with a gigantic flat screen TV on the wall and patio doors leading out to a balcony for you to admire the sea views. The breakfast was really delicious offering cereals, yoghurts, fruit juice, and a variety of cooked breakfast alternatives if you didn't want to opt for the traditional full English.

There is car parking around the back of the hotel which is accessed via the side street next to the hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay here & I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to others.

The wonderful sea view and friendly atmosphere.

Marllew Guest House: Nice family guest house close to the beach

Friendly family-run guest house, only 80 Metres from the promenade.
Always had a comfortable stay, with nice ensuites and family rooms,
Nice views and lovely food for breakfast,
For £25 for a single, great value for porthcawl

Blue Seas Bed & Breakfast: Feel right at home...

Blue seas is situated just 10 mins drive from the centre of Porthcawl, overlooking the sea and beach at Newton. There are 8 rooms in total with two of these being en-suite. I stayed in a twin en-suite with sea view. The rooms were very clean & modern with tea/coffee making facilities in the room and also a communal kitchen across the landing with fridge/microwave & washing up facilites. I booked on a room only basis so didn't get to try the breakfast but the restaurant area downstairs looked lovely. There is also a comfy lounge area & sky tv in a room downstairs. The owners were very welcoming & helped you feel at home. During the annual Elvis festival in the town, the B&B change their name to the Blue suede shoes hotel (see pic)!!

Good location for walking across the Merthyr Mawr sand dunes & beach.

Trecco Bay: Staying in a rented caravan

Trecco Bay which is now managed by Parkdean holidays group has all purchased caravans allowed on their sites and no tourers are allowed, the caravans are good sizes and even though I personally would consider them expensive, I you rent one privately out of season. They can be an excellent break away.

Check out the showdome, the curry tilda and chip shop at the centre and the splashland pool which is a great hit with kids and adults alike.

Pool, food court, kiddies fun rides, arcade, bar, gym(Charge), quad bikes ( in season)

Pier Hotel: dont stay here

Apart from the attractive barmaid this place was crap, we paid 45 quid for a twin room , (there was 3 of us) but this was all that was available all the B&B's were full of imaginary people(well,we didnt see anyone) ...the room was directly above a speaker and up a little flight of steps fropm the main bar , so if you want a good nights sleep take heed...

it was a lovely green colour

it served beer

the barmaids were allright

There was a SINK in the room (crazy i know)
