Cornorion Fawr: It's in the detail...
It's always in the detail for me. One of the reasons we love (and prefer) staying in B&B's, as apposed to cold, mass produced hotels. The detail. And the care. This staircase runs over 3 floors, is made of a gorgeous wood, and has plants hanging from it. I like what she has done with it. Simple yet enchanting.
Of course there are some lovely hotels out there, but all the rooms are the same, and it reeks of mass-production most of the time.
This little gem is a place we look forward to returning to again. I would be interested to see what plants she has put out, what new hand-sewn linen is on the bed covers, and if she has made any more traditional Welsh cookies for us! haha

Cornorion Fawr: Sounds of a stream...
I personally find listening to water flowing very relaxing. So what better than to have a stream outside your door to listen to? It isnt deep, and is quite rocky, so you cant really have a dip in there comfortably. But it's just that. A stream. Perfect for writing/drawing/painting next to.

Cornorion Fawr: Farm comfort
I am not particularly fussy about whether a place is fancy or has the best decor, as long as it's clean and comfortable, I am a happy bunny!
The bed linen was hand sewn. Very special and delicate.

Cornorion Fawr: Comfortable and spacious
Right at the top is the living area. There is a telly with Free Sky channels, comfortable couches and a few board games out for our use. But we, in typical fashion, had brought our own from home.
The view. The view. The view. The view.

Cornorion Fawr: Self catering facilities
Self catering is out preferred way when travelling. We prefer our own cooking, dont want to feel compelled to eat if we dont feel like it... the facilities are adequate, with a dish washer (which we didnt use I might add), oven, hob, fridge etc.
It was nice that the dining suite was right next to the kitchen. Open plan is really nice at times. Less formal.

Cornorion Fawr: Walk in shower ~ just what is needed!
The bathroom was not the most modern at all, but it was clean and functional, and the shower is huge! lol It is a walk in shower and two people can easily stand there.

Cornorion Fawr: Bedroom charm
The bedroom has it's own door out into the garden, which I think is a lovely feature. We left it / window open a bit at night and could clearly hear the stream as we drifted off to never never land.
It has it's own private stream. How many places can boast that? lol

Cornorion Fawr: Excellent renovation!
One thing I really liked about our stay here was that the owner, who is obviously very proud of this renovation, gave us quite a bit of detail about what had been done to the mill, with lots of history about what it was used for, how it was not used and left for waste for decades, and how it has had a rebirth.
She has had 3 offers to buy it, but has declined. If we win the lottery she would have a 4th offer.
The views are of rolling hills and farmland, trees, sheep, cows and the stream at the bottom of the garden. Just lovely :)

Cornorion Fawr: Our stay in an 18th century Welsh mill :)
I have written quite a few tips about this place. If you would like to rate my Llanfylin page, please ONLY rate ONE of my accommodation tips, NOT all. Thanks!
When we drove down the winding dirt drive way.. we were greeted by a few sheep, 3 rabbits and some cows. We had no internet connection, no mobile reception. BLISS :)
If you want / need a holiday that's not too expensive on the pocket, and you need some space and peace and quiet, this is the place for you. We havent managed to relax like this for a long time, and London has been especially stressful of late, and this came at a perfect time for us.
This ancient mill, which dates from the early 1700's, and was still in use during the 20th century, stands beside a stream in a wooded valley just a short distance from the farmhouse at Cornorion Fawr.
The renovations are a good combination of old and new, with much effort placed on the comfort of it's guests.
It has everything you need, plus extras.
