Lloyd's Hotel: A Great Little Hotel
During our self-drive tour of Wales this year we stopped in Llanidloes to visit with our friend Caddy and her family. We booked directly with Lloyd's Hotel after reading the information contained on their website. Since we were only going to be there for one night we were unable to to enjoy the specially prepared 5 course dinner prepared by Roy and served by Tom although the sample menus on their web site leave us envious of that experience. We booked a "Superior" double and were assigned to Room #2 upon arrival. The cost of £70 ($140USD) was well worth the comfortable room and home cooked breakfast. The room has a Queen sized bed and is bright and modern overlooking the main street of the town. It has a modern bath with shower, a sitting area in the room as well as satellite TV (flat screen) and a teapot. The hotel has seven rooms all of which are en suite .
The ground floor reception area had comfortable furniture along with a selection of newspapers for use of the guests. Our affable host, co-owner Tom, quickly signed us in and insisted upon carrying our luggage to the room.
Lloyd's is closed for several months in the dead of winter while the owners travel so if you are interested plan well ahead as the place fills up with visitors who return annually.
