Cardiff Backpackers

Very reasonable, clean, not too noisy. Within easy reach of the city centre and a stones throw from the Millennium Stadium.

Cardiff's only central backpackers

Given that this is the only hostel in the centre of Cardiff, one could be forgiven for expecting that this hostel might take advantage of its monopolistic status by not trying as hard as it could...

This couldn't be farther from the truth!

Being in the centre of Europe's youngest and fastest growing capital, some of this vitality has rubbed off on the hostel and the people that run it are justifiably proud of the place they run and the city they live in!

Staying here you are bound to enjoy a warm Welsh welcome, and will be able to relax and socialise with fellow travellers in the comfort of this great hostel.

All the staff are friendly and experienced travellers who are multilingual in Welsh, English and other languages. They are also very knowledgable about attractions and activities throughout Wales.

Their philosophy is to create a haven away from home, and they have amply managed this by laying on a comfortable lounge area with couches, TV, extensive video library, pool table and a couple of internet stations...

The facilities include bar/breakfast/dinner area with 'essentials' shop (where I was able to buy a yummy tin of baked beans and sausages!), an information desk, telephone and fax.

There is also great security with a buzzer to get in, as well as a coded security door leading to the dorms and sturdy lockers in each room.

Facilities:

Breakfast Included!
Car Parking Available
Internet Access
Laundry
Bicycle Hire
Linen Included
Curfew @ 2am
Credit Cards Accepted
Bar
Towels
Security Lockers
Luggage Storage
Guest Kitchen
Telephone/Fax Facilities

Unique Quality: Being the only central tourist hostel is a pretty unique feature! It is situated in a quite residential area just 5-10 minutes' walk from the Coach and Train stations of Cardiff, as well as many of the main attractions and the town centre itself!

It is an extremely colourful hostel, as shown by the picture below - this is a theme that is prevalent throughout the hostel...

There is a downstairs bar area which becomes very lively in the evenings and is actually frequented by local Welsh speakers, so if you want a close-up taste of the language, swing by for a drink! I was there for a national European Cup qualifying game and the atmosphere was brilliant being able to watch the game on a giant projection screen...

Some of the many great features here include an attractive roof garden complete with BBQ and hammocks; free tea and coffee throughout the day and free backpack sized personal lockers in each of the dorms.

This was a great place and I had a fantastic time there with the staff being incredibly helpful with anything I required!

RECOMMENDED!!!
