Cardiff Hilton

During my stay in Cardiff, I stayed at the Cardiff Hilton hotel. This is a good and decent hotel in the middle of heart of Cardiff.

Best Upmarket place to stay in Cardiff?

If I had the cash to splash in Cardiff, I would say that the Hilton would be the best place to stay in Cardiff with its fantastic location slap bang in the centre of town, the contemporary feel of what I think is a very attractive building with its very impressive atrium and the sheer number of facilities it has on offer, such as complimentary access to the gym.

There always seem to be great offers with Hilton hotels and I can imagine that the view across the Castle would be very fine indeed!

There are a couple of bars and restaurants on site, as well as plenty along The Friary adjacent.

Unique Quality: Apparently the gym is a sight to behold, with a pool area evocative of a Roman Bath

Indulgent luxury

For my stay (a romantic break with my wife) I splashed out on a room on the executive floor and it was worth every penny - we got a huge room with a view of the castle, access to the executive lounge/bar on the top of the hotel which gives panoramic views of the city, as well as all the usual 5* trimmings.

Unique Quality: Key word is luxury - a former office building transformed into a city centre pleasure palace. The paino bar is classy, the atrium breathtaking, the second-floor swimming pool wierd and the food is maginificent. All this an Cardiff Castle right outside the front door.

Amazingly (like all the towns...

Amazingly (like all the towns and cities I have chosen to live in), the five-star hotel rates are affordable, so why not??? Staying at the Hilton won't set you back at all, promise! (the food in the restaurants is a different story), and you won't need to pay any more for transports, you can practically walk anywhere!
There're special deals from the Hilton Website:
Hilton Deals

You can get a deal from £75 a night for the Hiltion Value Plus, the only catch is it's non-refundable...
The most expensive on that page is £189 standard rate for a 'king and exec junior suite overlooks Cardiff with two phone points, modem, air conditioned.' You need a credit card for booking this last quote and you can cancel it before 4pm on the day of arrival.

The Best deal I found was
Hilton's EscapeAways
Per Person
Per Night Bed &
Breakfast Midweek
Supplement
1 Apr -
30 Sep £52.50 +£5
Single occupancy of a twin/double room on Monday-Thursday is based on double occupancy rate; Friday-Sunday £20 supplement per night

Alternatively, call +800 888 44 888. This is a worldwide freephone number. Replace the + with your international access code. So in the UK, replace + with 0. Or contact you local ABTA / IATA travel agent.

Unique Quality: Well, it's got 5 stars, it's in impeccable location, it looks nice day or night, it is not expensive...hmm...it belongs to the Hilton Group, it's got a great gym but I don't know if you have to pay extra as a hotel guest. It must have great views, make sure you get as high up a room for a truly spectacular civic center, Bute Park, Cardiff Castle and grounds, with the backdrop of Welsh hills' sunset. You won't know what you're missing unless you stay there!!

More about Cardiff Hilton

Loved the place

by TripAdvisor Member ht73

The Hilton Cardiff is best located being directly in the city centre, close to bars and clubs, shops and the castle. Valet car parking is offered for just £13 for 24 hours, so one does not have to worry about finding parking space in the city centre.

The Hotel is pretty much what one expects from a Hilton, rather above average than below. However, the size of the bathroom and of the seperate shower in particular were quite impressive. Room and bathroom were very clean and nicely arranged. From my room I had a view towards the castle, what was very nice.

Staff was friendly and helpful.

Great location, nice hotel.

As a regular Hilton user, I would say that this hotel is one of the better ones in the UK.

We went for the weekend booking only the Saturday night.

The hotel is simple to find, exit the M4 at the A470 junction and as you drive into Cardiff its right in front of you.

We booked an executive room with continental breakfast. The room was lovely with all the extras you would expect from an executive room. The bathrooms were huge with separate shower and bath.

Valet parking can be a bit of a wait if you try to get your car back at check out time!

The hotel is literally right on the doorstep of the castle, the shopping area and nightlife. We enjoyed Saturday there so much we extended our stay to the Sunday night too.

The executive lounge can become busy in the evening where from 6pm they serve canapes and alcoholic drinks. The Sunday evening was much quieter than the Saturday. The canapes were very nice.

I notice that one member slated the breakfast in the executive lounge, it is advertised as a continental breakfast and that's what you get! Cereal, juices, pastries, croissant, fruits, cold meats, cheeses and scrambled eggs. We thought it was very nice and filled us up! If you want all the greasy fried stuff then go downstairs, but it will probably be an extra charge depending on your tariff.

Leisure club is very nice on the second floor of the hotel. The pool is stainless steel. There is a Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna and a small gym.

Super Hotel

I stayed at the Hilton with a friend on a Saturday night - The hotel was great - Lovely big room & good size bathroom, plus tasteful & modern decor. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Would definatley use again, especially as the location was so good.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on a Sunday night in December for his birthday. We booked this hotel as we wanted to be pampered in a top class hotel. We were not disappointed. We had an executive room on the 7th floor with lounge access. The room was stunning and the bathroom huge. I had a brilliant night's sleep in the king sized bed. The location was ideal with the executive lounge looking over Cardiff castle. We really felt that we were treated like royalty. We checked out of the hotel from the executive lounge while enjoying a drink and a read of the papers and when we walked downstairs our car was waiting for us with our bags already loaded! We would definately stay here again if we return to Cardiff.

Excellent!
