Visit the National Museum of...

Visit the National Museum of Wales I spent many free days of my childhood visiting the NMW, they have great exhibitions of Geology, Archaeology, Natural history and Art. It is located in the Cathays district of the city, near the center.
The Welsh Folk Museum about 5 miles outside Cardiff is also a must, it has old cottages rescued from all over Wales and rebuilt in a park. It shows the dwellings that welsh people have lived in over the last 2000 years. It is located at St.Fagans castle.
A Great Sense of Humor
by Goner
We walked to the train station to check on schedules to Fishguard and the Irish Sea ferry. The clerk was behind what looked like a bullet-proof window and he couldn't hear what we were saying and we couldn't understand what he was saying, he finally just shoved a copy of the schedule at us through the crack in the glass. A young couple (he was another train employee) in line, kidded with us about our service. We all had a great laugh. Fun and friendly people in Wales.
Wales Rally GB
by M0B1US
In November Cardiff was the venue for the culmination of one of the most exciting World Rallies that had started in Monte Carlo all the way back in January.
Going into the race Carlos Sainz, Petter Solberg and Sébastien Loeb were separated by a single point and the championship was wide open!
Ultimately Petter Solberg beat Sébastien Loeb by a single point for a thrilling finale that went to the final stage here in Cardiff...
In another couple of months the World Rally will gear up again, and Wales will again be where the finale of the race will be held - so if you're into the World Rally, you know where to come!;-)
Whilst I did not see the race, it was brilliant watching the build up outside the Civic Centre where the cars underwent their final examinations and there was an opportunity to buy merchandise and tickets. Another great thing was seeing all the fans who had travelled from all over the world to be here and witness a great final.
Now that the Wales Assembly Government is the new event sponsor to 2006, the event has been re-titled Wales Rally GB to further raise the profile of Cardiff and Wales as a whole as hosts of this prestigious World Final...
Maybe I will go next time as I kind of wish that I had this time... Some of the World's most high performance vehicles
Chapter - Cardiff's trendy arts centre
by aaaarrgh
If you are in Cardiff for more than a few days, the Chapter Arts Centre is worth a visit. This is where all the trendy middle-classes and art-set of Cardiff like to spend time.
Chapter has been located in a large red brick ex-school for thirty years. It has a large art gallery with visiting national and international exhibitions. There are two cinemas, which show mainstream films, art-house films and some foreign language stuff too. Upstairs is a theatre, which often stages modern dance and drama.
Downstairs there is a large eating and drinking area. The bar serves a wide variety of foreign beers and lagers. During the day you can get very nice healthy wholefood meals, cakes and coffee. And then during the evening the area becomes a large pub.
Next to the front door is an excellent noticeboard. This is very useful for finding accommodation, or language teachers, or to find out what is going on around Cardiff.
DIRECTIONS
Chapter is in the Canton area of Cardiff, about 2km west of the city centre, behind Canton Police Station. Catch any of the Ely buses (17,18 etc.) that go along Cowbridge Road East. There is also a carpark behind Chapter.

Barry island
by Carmela71
Such a lovely place. Used to be a famous tourist resort but it went down.
Still in winter days you can find sunny days to walk along the beach and the resort.
Barry Island is in Barry, close to the Airport of Cardiff
