My home town-the town- Workington Town!
"Born & Bread..."
I was born & bread...well actually I was born in a hospital in the town next to Workington which is Whitehaven...but I don't want to depress you too much! I have lived in Workington most of my life, and have always thought of it to be a dump where nothing is going on, but having lived in other places, and herd about others too, my town is not at all as bad as I thought it was. It just depends what you like!
"About the Town..."
Workington is an industrial town situated in the extreme north west of England (none of this 'I'm from Manchester-the north west ***!') It is situated in the county of Cumbria, and lies about 25 miles to the nort west of Englands most desirable national park- the Lake District. It has a population of around 30,000 people, and is relativley close to major road & rail links, as well as the 'Great Border City' Carlisle.
"Good and bad points about the town..."
For the size of the town- a small town, it has a lot going on for it! The nighlife at weekends is uncomparable in Cumbria- and is starting to attract people from all over. We have a decent amateur football team (Workington Reds) and a rugby team that played in the Super League, but have now gone down the pan! (Workington Town.) Shopping & leisure facilities in the town are good and getting better, whilst the natural beuty of Cumbria is here for all to be seen! House prices are relativley cheap in comparisson to other regions, and the town is a pretty safe place to live.
