Capital of Bahrain
"Modern Bahrain"
Manama City is the capital of this small island sheikhdom of Bahrain. Connected to Saudi Arabia by a causeway, Bahrain has become a holiday resort of some sort for many Saudis and expats who want to escape from the rigid lifestyles there. In Bahrain, there are nightclubs, casinos and bars but alcohol is strictly to be consumed within the confines of such establishments. Bahrain's oil reserve is slowly dwindling, so the country needs to branch out to other forms of income especially tourism and finance. A parliamentary democracy, Bahrain appears to be a stable little country with all the trappings of the modern world. Everyday, many Saudis cross the causeway to enjoy the western diversions in Manama that are not available in their country. They drive around in their massive luxury SUV's but accidents are very common to the short term visitors. A tax-free country, many expats have also chosen to live here and enjoy the warm weather as well. Manama is therefore a hodgepodge of various people in search for wealth and pleasure.
