This is a picture of the gates in the centre of Manama that leads to the souq with its little alleways full of mostly Indian shops with materials and clothes of all sorts..
Not far away fron here is the Gold souq now consolidated in one building which i was amazed to see. I have never seen gold in my life like that in Bahrain. More women vist the gold souq than men do, because Bahrainian women prefer gold than money in the bank. And all gold is 21 carat and hallmarked..
"Shopping"
There is a strong indian influence while shopping in Bahrain, many of the taylors and little shops in the Manama Souq (Market) have indian proprietors,
There are also Western -style outlets and shopping malls with plazas, and department stores with the best designer clothes. The Bahrain Mall houses the giant supermarket selling a wide range of brands. Also what you pay is where you shop so always look around first.
