    Affordable appartments

Usually used as temporary home for expats doing business in Bahrain, Frsan Plaza also rents appartments for short stays. Prices can be even lower as for hotel rooms of similar ctegories, of course depending on season. For less than 50 EUR a night I got a whole appartment for myself. Frsan Plaza is located in the Juffair district of Manama, an area which was just recently developed. There are some basic things like a grocery store, a small restaurant and a donut shop within walking distance. More restaurants are not far away on the other side of Al Fatih Highway, close to the Gulf Hotel. A couple of interesting sights are also nearby like the National Library and Al Fateh Mosque. The Hotel runs an airport shuttle which is included in some fares. If not included, it costs 5 BHD only, which is comparable to a taxi.

Unique Quality: The appartment consisted of a living room, kitchen, bathroom and sleeping room. There were some nice amenities like soft drinks and nuts in the fridge, a big TV in the living room with hundreds of channels (although as a non-Arab you had to search a lot to find some language you could understand) and of course air conditioning. They also had the funny idea to put an iron with a continental European plug in. The plugholes were British... At least, everything was clean, just a bit run down, especially some of the doors and the carpet in the sleeping room. Still, it was more than good value for the money.

Directions: Juffair, close to the Gulf Pearl Hotel and Al Fateh Mosque

Travel Tips for Manama

by Kid-A

"can't wait to go back!"

If I had the means, I think I'd move to the middle east. Bahrain is my ideal climate, and I met many friendly people: Bahraini, British, Aussi and Indian who made me feel very welcome in their homes, restaurants and pubs.

I'll be adding much more to this page, but for now enjoy the few photos I have here.

My next gulf visit will be Dubai. I must see this city!
