I'm afraid you're visiting at the wrong time - Ramadan doesn't end until the 3rd, and meantime all the pubs and nightclubs are closed. You won't be able to get a drink for love or money, and all the restaurants are closed from dawn till dusk. If you're visiting again, see my travel page on Bahrain for pubs and restaurants I recommend.

Here is a list of cheap hotels in Bahrain:
1- Bristol Hotel
2- Tylos Hotel
3- Awal Hotel
4- Gulf Gate Hotel
5- Al-Andulus Hotel
6- Royal Hotel
8- Casablanka Hotle
9- Aljazeera Hotel
10- Concord Hotel

They are all located in town centre. The price for a room for one person is about 10 BD. Gulf Gate is popular among Western tourists and it has good entertainment. Enjoy it

Yes but arent these all paces that are there just to offer "extra services"

All of the cheeper hotels offer "extra services", stick to the Intercon, Golden Tulip or the Sheraton. They cost more but it's worth it...unless you're looking for "extra services"

Looking for a hotel that is close to the bars and restaruants within walking distance. Any ideas? 3 or 4 star

Almost every hotel in Bahrain is either have own bar or very close to the one :)
Gulf Gate Hotel is near to GOLD CITY Mall.Baharin Saudia Trapsorttion center and also have nice pool too, last time it was 35 Dinar when i went there Feb 2009.

If you are arriving during Formula 1 Race (12th to 14th march) or on Tuesday~Thursay evening it will be difficult to get a room at any hotel, friday till Monday there will be no problem. The price can be 2 or 3 fold higher.

Which ever hotel you select, better call them and pre book your room. There are many hotels on the Government Avenue, near the Bab Al Bahrain.

If you need just a place to sleep, you can look at my Manama Hotel tips, basic and cheap accomodation close to everything.
