Bahrain - The island of two seas
"A Liberal little arab kingdom"
Bahrain is a very small island kingdom, pratically in the shadow of Saudi Arabia. It is however much more liberal than Saudi Arabia.
It has wonderful modern malls (like the Seef Mall), a clean downtown and is surrounded by clear waters.
The temperature is very hot, sometimes approaching 45 degrees Centigrade.
The population consists of many peoples from the Indian subcontinent as well as arabs.
Generally it is friendly to foreigners and so far free of terrorist attacks.
"The 'Souk' Market area downtown"
This is a typical bazaar area found in many arab countries.
Here you can find gold, silver, coins, jewelry, perfume, food, rugs, etc.
"Bahrain has fine hotels..."
Hotels like the Intercontinental, Sheraton, Holiday Inn, Le Meridien, etc are all in Bahrain.
If you like French pastries, amazingly there was a place you can't miss for French, "La Maison du Cafe"! I hope it's still around.
