Darius Hotel: Outrageously Expensive

We didn't stay here as singles start at $US230 and doubles $US345, but had to visit (Rials 50,000 which includes a chay or juice). This has to be the most expensive hotel in all of the Islamic Republic. It was completed in 2004 by an entrepreneur who bought the site from the local authorities when they ran out of money. No expenses spared. Its modelled on Persepolis and is quite impressive in its own way. There is really no modern edifice in Iran that compares to this.
