Silk Road Kharanaq: a traditional guesthouse
Run by a Dutch guy, Sebastian, who is a business partner to the people who run the Silk Road Hotel is Yazd. A former product manager, he fell in love with Iran and moved there – then discovered the ancient and deserted village of Kharanaq and decided to being it back to life, restoring one of the traditional buildings to turn it into a guesthouse.
Reservations can be made throught the Silk road hotel in Yazd.
Unique Quality: The place had opened the day before we arrived, so we were guests number 2. It’s a delightful place to stay, simple in a way, but spotlessly clean and very friendly. Accommodation, with three meals costs 15 dollars – tea and coffee are included, but not soft drinks. You should know that here you will sleep on floor mattrasses with warm blankets, Iranian style.
