    Any Location: Iran Hotels
  • Satisfaction:
  • The Hotel accommodations in Iran in general are totally junk. I have stayed in many different ones such as Laleh, Esteghlal and Azadi in Tehran; and few other ones in Shomal [North Iraan] such as Hotel Ramsar.

The cost is way high compared to other developing counties (e.g. Malaysia, Thailand and….); they have no entertainment and offer no services at all. You are not allowed to bring up guests to your room (not to mention a lady friend, heaven forbid). How stupid are these people?

From all the counties I have traveled to, I would give the lowest rating possible to the hotel system of Iran. My suggestion is to rent an apartment or stay with a friend (lot more fun and cheaper), if that is not an option try Melal apartment hotel Tehran (but the cost is high); they were politer then other places and when staying there I had more freedom.

Ferdossi Grand Hotel: a very old 4 stars hotel
  • Satisfaction:
  • For our first night (actually morning, since we landed in the middle of the night) we chose to stay at the Ferdosi Grand Hotel, because of its very central location. We found the staff nice and helpful, and as promised they let us do an early check-in. They kept knocking at our door, asking if everything was fine or bringing us fresh fruits and water... very helpful people, though it never crossed their mind that we really only wanted to take a nap.

We took a triple room as we had only planned to spend a few hours at the hotel - and it was not very cheap. I think we paid 120 dollars for it. It was bright and spacious, and beds were comfortable, but it is clear that the hotel is quite old and the old carpets stank a bit. Definitely the 4 stars of the hotel are not deserved. Breakfast was nothing special, either - but not too bad. The best thing about this hotel, anyway, remains its location and the cake just outside, selling delicious sweets and nuts.

Ferdosssi Grand Hotel: Close to many museums
  • Satisfaction:
  • While the rooms are just ok (especially if you have to share them with a lot of mosquitoes), the food in this hotel is wonderful - they have an incredible buffet with lots of extremely tasty vegetables - best dinner I had in Iran!!

The location is also quite convenient: just around the corner from the National Museum.

  • Most cheap hotels are found in the southern part of the city, especially close to Emam Khomeini sq. A clean, simple twin room should be around 8,000 for foreigners. Try to bargain a little.

Firoozeh was clean and simple. A twin room 8000 toman. Breakfast 500 toman per person for tea, bread and cheese. Private shower and sink, but shared toilet.
