Tehran Hotel

Located next to Laleh Park, this hotel is supposed to be a 5-star but having spent 2 nights there, i would nominate it to be only 3-star. Room is clean and simple. Toiletries are good - comes with shoe polish. No tea or coffee making facilities. Breakfast buffet cost 47,000 riyals and service charge at 17%. A lot of guests at night aptronising its restaurant or coffe or dinner. Easy exit to airport. To go to Grand Bazaar will cost you 55,000 riyals from hotel and if you stop a taxi outside hotel compound will cost you 50,000 riyals. You walk slightly further away about 100 metres will cost you only 30,000 riyals

by Narviking

There are restaurants all over the place and they have very nice food in Iran. In Esfahan we tried the restaurant at Sahel Hotel. A restaurant located on the top floor with special traditional environment and good food. In Tehran we had dinner at one of the top floors of Hotel Laleh with wonderful view over Tehran. We also eat in a restaurant that offer nice food and which from time to time even have live music. Unfortunately I cant remember the name of that place. Other small places had nice food but I cant remember the names of them all..... THE PHOTO: SAHEL RESTAURANT IN ESFAHAN. We eat alot of Kebab in Iran and its nice. I must admit we even had pizza a couple of times too. In private homes we had fantastic meals and the good thing for us was that its not so spicy the iranian food.

Climate and sauna/hamam

by Mac310871

I shall be in Tehran for the first time from 4 to 8 Feb 2005. Please let me know what the climate will be like. Would there be snow? What best to bring to keep me warm.

Also, is there any male only sauna/baths/hamam like they have in Turkey? If yes, please advise where I can find them.

I shall be stayng in Laleh hotel. Please advise what it is like?

What can I possibly do at night?

What is the best and fastest way to Esfahan as I only have 1 day to spare and should be back to Tehran before my flight out. Cost?

Thanks

Hello Mac,

First, the fastest way to Esfahan would be by air, it takes around 40 minutes and costs 30$, well atleast it did when i was there, but to be sure check out www.iranair.com .

As for the weather, it will probably be alittle chilly, not to cold. IF there is any sauna/baths/hamam they will MOST definitly be male only :)) , however i dont know any.

Also at night you can't do much after 12 if you don't know anyone, Iranians mostly have parties at homes until late but the resturants and cafees close at twelve.
