The Cheapest In Town
by anitayusof
I stayed at Mashhad Hostel / Hotel in Tehran. This most probably is the cheapest place to stay in Tehran. This place is located at Amir Kabir street, a place with shops selling tyres and automotive spare parts lining all the way. The rate for a dorm bed is IR50 000 per person (Nov 2008). The individual room is not spacious compared to dorm (5 bedded). They have a kitchen and internet upstairs for guests to use. You can meet budget travelers from all over the world, mostly those who traveled on bicycle here. The staffs were great. After coming and going and staying at this place for the 3rd time, they really treat me like relatives, offering food which they cooked. Location was great, about 10 minutes walk to Imam Khomeini Square metro station. If you don't mind walking, the National Museum, Abigneh Museum, Jewel Museum, Ebarat Museum and the Grand Bazaar is accesible on foot. Don't mixed up this hostel as Mashad Hotel (another 3 star hotel in Tehran). Make sure the taxi driver don't take you to the other hotel.
Directions: From Imam Khomeini metro station, walk East to the South East corner of Imam Khomeini Square and then continue East along Amir Kabir Avenue. The hostel is located about 5 minutes' walk from the square, on the right side of the street

A good cheap accomodation
by Sputnikboy
The Mashhad Hotel is located in the southern part of Tehran, but it's not far from Imam Khomeini Square and the Metro stop. It's not a nice zone, just full of mechanic and tyres shops.
I asked for a single but they gave me a three bed bedroom. The bed and pillows were all clean, but the room was hot and there were a lot of mosquitos. There are two shared toilet (a bit dirty) and a shower.
The cost for a single is 60000 rials per night, the breakfast is not included.
Be aware the check out time is at 2PM; I arrived at 4AM in the morning and they charged me the entire night.
Unique Quality: It is one of the cheapest places in Tehran with a good overall quality.
Directions: Five minutes east of Imam Khomeini Square, north of Tehran Bazar.

Great Staff and Dirt Cheap
by JohnniOmani
The rooms and shared bathrooms here are very small but the excellent management means its the place to be for backpackers and you will meet a lot of overlanders here making for some interesting stories. The place is small but has an excellent vibe and the price is unbeatable. Great.
Directions: Amir Kabir Street

The rooms are very tiny, there is not much to say from the room will be ok, the hotel has Shared Bathron and Squat toliets who are very clean both, they are generaly cleaned. Hostel has Laundry service and Internet who cost 10,000 IR the hour but is very slow speed. Managament staff are friendly at night they generaly talk whit backpackers who stay here, i was talked whit them another tourists here. Some times they offer tea and qalyan to us.
