Continuing Dohuk/Dahuk/Duhok's spelling confusion is the Hotel Parlaman/Parleman/Perleman/Barlman. Located on a pedestrian street just off the main Kawa Street, the Hotel Parleman is the backpacker favourite here, thanks to Lonely Planet only including one budget hotel in its pages. The owner seemed a bit bemused by the fact that every day, these foreigners come wanting rooms. Ustraaliya, Almaaniya, Faransa, Sweed, Isbaaaniya....he listed all the different nationalities who had passed through as he put my passport into a top-of-the-range hand-held photocopier. With thirteen rooms, the Parleman isn't the biggest hotel in the world. Neither is it the cleanest. Not that it is exactly dirty...just a bit worn. But it was friendly, the bathroom didn't have any creepy crawlies in it, the shower was hot, and the rooms were quiet at night.
20,000 was the price for a room, which comes with two beds, a wardrobe, satellite television, and a useable bathroom. No breakfast.
